Tansey Topics: A weekly look at what's happening at BCCC | Eastern North Carolina Now

The Gullfest Planning Committee is working hard to make our first spring festival a success on Saturday, April 5. Gullfest Chairman Theresa Edwards reports that over 60 arts and crafts vendors are expected to participate. In addition, everyone at the college is excited about the scheduled appearance of Ben Jones, the actor who played Cooter on Dukes of Hazzard during the automobile club's car show. GED Recruitment and Retention Specialist Penelope Radcliffe seeking volunteers who are willing to "go to jail" to support scholarships for GED students. Event organizers will block off parking spaces in the circle in front of Building 1 for vendors and bring in equipment and items for the event that could affect parking in other areas starting after the close of business on Thursday. Please be mindful of this activity when you arrive for work on Friday. We hope to see you Saturday!

Attendees of Free Day at BCCC will also have the chance to talk to BCCC staff about admissions, career planning, financial aid, college transfers and academic counseling. Twelve classes in a variety of disciplines – allied health, arts and sciences, business and industry - are available for prospective students to attend. It's a substantial improvement over our previous display. Thanks very much to Marketing Coordinator Wes Sumner, Director of Admissions and Recruitment Daniel Wilson and their team for this new display. We hope to have it on view at the Advanced Manufacturing Awareness Kick-off Dinner on April 7.
