The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced today that the Honorable George Wainwright Jr. of Carteret County has been appointed to the State Ethics Commission.

    Raleigh, NC     The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced today that the Honorable George Wainwright Jr. of Carteret County has been appointed to the State Ethics Commission.

    Justice Wainwright is a former associate justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. He served for eight years and distinguished himself as being the only person to have served on both the district and superior court levels and the supreme court. Justice Wainwright is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and a longstanding member of the N.C. Bar Association.

    The duties of the commission are to establish ethical standards for certain public officials, state employees and appointees to nonadvisory state boards and commissions; to require public disclosure of economic interests by certain persons in the executive, legislative and judicial branches and to amend the lobbying laws. The term length is four years.
