Obituary: Neta P. Asby | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Neta Mae Pugh Asby, age 91, a resident of 314 Village Circle, Washington, died Tuesday May 3, 2011.

    Graveside services will be 11:00 am Friday May 6, 2011 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be conducted by Pastor Phillip Jethro and Pastor Harvey Edwards. Her grandsons, Nathan Asby, Bryan Muse, Steven May, Clint Asby, Daniel Asby and Matt Asby will serve as pallbearers.

    Mrs. Asby was born in Beaufort County on January 26, 1920 to the late Sam and Annie Lillian Gurganus Pugh. On June 22, 1936 she married Robert Wilson Asby who preceded her in death on December 13, 1992. She was employed with Hamilton Beach in Washington and retired in June of 1984 with 18 years of service. Mrs. Asby was a member of Alligood Church of God.

    Survivors include four daughters, Shelby Muse, Lillian Boyd and husband Harold, Arlene May and husband Johnny, and Bonita Davenport and husband Wess; Four sons, Danny Asby, Carl Kelly Asby and wife Judy, Barry Asby and wife Shelley, and Charles Asby; One brother, George Pugh; Twenty six grandchildren, forty nine great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Nellie R. Hopkins, one son, Bobby Glenn Asby and one grandson, George Robert Hopkins.

    The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm Thursday May 5, 2011 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of Mrs. Asby's daughter, Lillian Boyd, 1815 Slatestone Rd., Washington, NC.
