Governor Pat McCrory issued the following statement after speaking with Jack Truong, president and CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances North America and executive vice president of AB Electrolux.

    Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory issued the following statement after speaking with Jack Truong, president and CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances North America and executive vice president of AB Electrolux.

    "This is great news for Electrolux and our state," said Governor McCrory. "I had a very positive conversation with Jack Truong today, and I am excited to watch Electrolux's continued growth and success, especially given the fact that the company's headquarters will be located in Charlotte. I look forward to building on this important relationship that first began when, as mayor of Charlotte, I recruited Electrolux. I also look forward to being a part of Electrolux's 25th anniversary later this fall in Kinston."

    It was announced earlier today that AB Electrolux of Sweden, which has a major presence in North Carolina, purchased GE Appliances for $3.3 billion. Electrolux located its North American headquarters in Charlotte in 2010. In December 2013, Governor McCrory announced an $85 million expansion by Electrolux, creating 810 jobs and increasing its presence in the state. The acquisition is set to close during 2015 and is subject to regulatory approvals.
