Governor McCrory Appoints John Bowers To Superior Court | Eastern North Carolina Now

Governor Pat McCrory has appointed Charlotte attorney John Bowers to the North Carolina Superior Court. Bowers will take the seat of Judge H. William Constangy, who served as a Resident Superior Court judge for district 26-B in Mecklenburg County until his retirement on August 31, 2014.

    Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory has appointed Charlotte attorney John Bowers to the North Carolina Superior Court. Bowers will take the seat of Judge H. William Constangy, who served as a Resident Superior Court judge for district 26-B in Mecklenburg County until his retirement on August 31, 2014.

    "I'm thankful for the legacy of leadership and service Judge Constangy leaves behind and look forward to all that John Bowers will do for Mecklenburg County and our state in his new role," Governor McCrory said. "John's vast and varied litigation experience will be of tremendous benefit to the Court."

    Bowers attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his undergraduate and law degrees. Following law school, he served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Justice John Webb of the North Carolina Supreme Court. After his clerkship, he worked for Waggoner, Hamrick, Hasty, Monteith and Kratt, and then later with Essex Richards. Bowers' experience included representing clients in the areas of commercial and employment litigation, First Amendment and constitutional law and appellate advocacy.

    He joined Horack, Talley, Pharr & Lowndes in 2004, where he practices commercial litigation, complex real estate litigation, construction litigation, employment litigation, and appellate advocacy. Bowers is a long time resident of Charlotte, and he currently lives in the city with his wife and two daughters.
