Pooser Joins BCCC Board Of Trustees | Eastern North Carolina Now

The Beaufort County Community College Board of Trustees welcomed Jordan Pooser to its ranks at its February meeting when Pooser, newly-elected President of BCCC's Student Government Association, took the oath of office.

Pooser joins the board as an ex officio member. He succeeds Jackson Lancaster who transferred to East Carolina University.

"The BCCC Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome Mr. Pooser," said board Chairman Russell Smith. "With his experience as a student leader, Mr. Pooser will be well-positioned to represent the students' point of view to the board."

A native of Florida, Pooser moved to North Carolina as a child when his father accepted a position as the youth minister of a church in Greenville. He attended local public schools briefly but was primarily educated at home along with his brother and sister.

Pooser earned an associate in arts degree from BCCC in May but returned to the college in the fall to complete additional studies before transferring to a four-year university.

He plans to pursue bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting and business and pursue a career as a Certified Public Accountant.

Pooser has been active in the Student Government Association while at BCCC. Before being named Vice President in the Fall of 2014, he served as Parliamentarian of the association during the 2013-2014 Academic Year. Pooser is a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society and the Jeremiah 29 Club. He is also a tutor in the Writing Center and works in the BCCC Biology lab.

In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing video games, volunteering at Sidney Free Will Baptist Church and visiting his friends. Pooser is engaged to be married to Claudia Chichorz, a student in BCCC's Cosmetology Program.

He was joined at the board meeting by his parents, Dawn and David Pooser, and sister, Annabeth Pooser.

Beaufort County Clerk of Court Marty Paramore, left, delivers the oath of office to Jordan Pooser, center, who joined the Beaufort County Community College Board of Trustees, recently. At right, Pooser's mother, Dawn, participates in the ceremony.
