BCCC, TriCounty Telecom Join Forces To Offer Tech Workshops | Eastern NC Now

The Division of Continuing Education and Beaufort County Community College and TriCounty Telecom are joining forces to offer a series of one-night technology workshops for residents in the Belhaven area.

    The Division of Continuing Education and Beaufort County Community College and TriCounty Telecom are joining forces to offer a series of one-night technology workshops for residents in the Belhaven area.

    The workshops are intended to help participants gain a better understanding and use of technology in their homes.

    Workshops will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the TriCounty Telecom conference room at 2193 N.C. Highway 99, South, Belhaven. The instructor is Brian Miller, lead Computer Information Technology and Computer Programming instructor at BCCC.

    The schedule of workshops is as follows:

  • March 10 - Using the Internet Wisely. Learn to navigate the Internet safely and responsibly by understanding security settings, parental controls and web ratings.
  • April 14 - How to Enjoy Streaming Video. What are Netflix, Hulu, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Voodoo and the others and which are best for you? Also learn how to manage them and your bandwidth properly.
  • May 5 - iPhone, iPad Workshop. Become more proficient with your Apple iPhone and iPad. Learn the tips and tricks and security settings that will enhance your ability to make these devices work for you.
  • May 19 - Android Workshop. Get better at using your Android device. Learn about Apps, security settings, entertainment options and the features to help you get the most from your telephone or tablet.
  • June 2 - Advantages of Web-Based Mail. Learn to be more effective with email, calendar, contacts and other features and connect these services to your smart phone. You'll receive training in Zimbra, Gmail and Office 365.

    The cost of each workshop is $10. Upon completion of each workshop, TriCounty Telecom will issue a $10 credit to be used towards the purchase of TriCounty Telecom services.

    Students may register by calling 252-940-6375 or in person in room 802 of Building 8 on the BCCC campus. BCCC accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Checks payable to Beaufort County Community College may be mailed to the attention of Eva Peartree, 5337 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington, NC 27889.
