The Office of Governor Pat McCrory has announced the following appointments to the North Carolina Board of Transportation.

    Raleigh, N.C. — The Office of Governor Pat McCrory has announced the following appointments to the North Carolina Board of Transportation.

  • Major General Hugh Overholt (Craven County) — General Overholt is a member of the Firm of Ward and Smith, P.A. He has served as Staff Judge Advocate for the 7th Infantry Division in Korea, Special Assistant for Legal and Selected Policy Matters in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense in Washington, D.C., and Judge Advocate General. Overholt has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Department of Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He represents the 2nd Division. This is a reappointment.
  • Sandra Fountain (Onslow County) — Fountain has owned Coldwell Banker Fountain Realty for over 15 years. She served in the Jacksonville/Onslow Chamber of Commerce as the 2007 Chairman of the Board of Directors and as the 2004 and 2013 Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for RBC Bank in Jacksonville and a member of the Committee of 100 for Jacksonville/Onslow County. Fountain was named the 2013 Woman of the Year by the Jacksonville/Onslow Chamber of Commerce. She represents the 3rd Division.
  • Augustus "Gus" Tulloss (Nash County) — Tulloss owns Gus H. Tulloss Insurance Agency in Rocky Mount. He has served as President of the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce, the NC Jaycees and the Rocky Mount Rotary Club. Tulloss is currently Chairman of the Deleon Cater Foundation and past Chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. In 2005, he was the recipient of the Rocky Mount Distinguished Citizen Award. He represents the 4th Division. This is a reappointment.

    The board carries out the Highway Trust Fund enacted by the Legislature and the Federal ISTEA program in a manner to best meet the transportation needs of the State of North Carolina. The term length is four years.
