"Deputy Cletus Hogg" To Appear At Gullfest 2015 | Eastern NC Now

Actor Richard Hurst who played Deputy Cletus Hogg on the television show Dukes of Hazzard will highlight the Beaufort County Community College Car Club Car Show to be held Saturday, April 18, on the BCCC campus.

    Actor Richard Hurst who played Deputy Cletus Hogg on the television show Dukes of Hazzard will highlight the Beaufort County Community College Car Club Car Show to be held Saturday, April 18, on the BCCC campus.

    Hurst will be available to sign autographs and pose for photographs, along with a replica of the automobile, the General Lee, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. near BCCC's automotive technology shop in Building 2.

    The car show will be held outside of Building 2 as part of BCCC's annual spring festival, Gullfest, an event to benefit the Student Government Association and the BCCC Foundation.

    Dukes of Hazzard related items will be available for purchase during the show.

    Hurst portrayed Deputy Cletus Hogg, Boss Hogg's cousin in the 1980 to 1983 seasons of the television show, which aired on CBS from 1979 to 1985, and most recently in The Dukes of Hazzard Reunion in 1997 and Hazzard in Hollywood in 2000.

    The General Lee is the Dodge Charger driven by the Duke boys in the television show. It is known for its signature horn, its chases and stunts.

    A native of Houston, Texas, Hurst has appeared in many movies and other television shows including The Karate Kid, Part III, The John Larroquette Show, The Client, Anywhere But Here and The Guardian, among others.

    He makes numerous appearances at various Dukes of Hazzard events and at Cooter's in Nashville and Gatlinburg, Tenn. He has also make appearances at The World of Wheels in Birmingham, Ala. Hust's son is the actor Ryan Hurst.

    In addition to the appearance by Hurst, the car show will feature prizes for the Best in Show for a car, truck or motorcycle; Best Engine, Best Paint, Best Interior and Students Choice. The BCCC Car Club will also hold a barbecue chicken plate sale during Gullfest.

    Attendees can purchase autographed 8 inch by 10 inch photographs of Hurst for $10. Hurst will autograph other items for a charge of $5. Photographs of Hurst will be free with any purchase.
