Conservatives, Libertarians both win with focus on local control

RALEIGH - A greater reliance on federalism could help address key political concerns for both traditional conservatives and libertarians. That's one of the key arguments in Charles C.W. Cooke's new book, The Conservatarian Manifesto.

Cooke, a National Review writer, discussed key themes from the book during a speech Monday for the John Locke Foundation's Shaftesbury Society and the National Review Institute. He explained that changing attitudes about issues such as abortion, gay marriage, and gun control will force the conservative movement and Republican Party to make some choices about the best way to secure a winning electoral coalition in the future.

In the video clip below, Cooke touts the value of federalism.

I forgot to mention what may become my new description. Conservatarian.
I will know more after I have read his book.

I saw this post last night and watched the short video. A simple answer to a most convoluted approach to governing. One issue citizens are what may have caused this mess we are in. I love his comment that it is odd we are litigating every question and the elevation of one man to one office in a big country tears the country apart. I plan to watch the whole presentation. And just in case anyone is tempted, I does not matter that he has an English accent.
