Liberals Hard Wired - Volume I: ''Shut Up and Sing" | Eastern North Carolina Now

At the heart of this treatise is James Taylor's commentary on Barry Obama and Hillary B.

Modern Liberals have a modus operandi (M.O. - Latin for method of operation) to attract and keep 'low information' voters - their base electorate - that is easily discernible to the qualified eye, and, remarkably, is extremely successful. The method is in two basic parts: Part 1) to act as if you have the solutions, that they are simple, and there is an inexhaustible source of funding to make them work; Part 2) Use good, decent celebrities, who have no clue how the World really works, to endorse that Part 1.

This works, and has for some time in this interconnected world, where middling minded celebrities delve far beneath their well paid genius, and offer political solutions to problems far beyond their intellectual grasp. In 2003, political analyst Laura Ingraham published Shut Up and Sing, which was her well considered tome to advise celebrities to do what they do best, and leave the commentary to others, unless they are ready for a spirited debate, a real debate, one where you can not hide behind your celebrity, or the condition of Liberal ("Not that there is anything wrong with that").

In this vein of discovery, Singer/songwriter James Taylor has been in the news of late, and not just because of his sad moment of world embarrassment when he was hauled to France, by John Kerry, for his "You've Got a Friend" moment to French President François Hollande; but to agree to an interview with the AP (Associated Press) to extol the virtues of a liberal president, Barack Hussein, and one who desires to be, Hillary B. Clinton. While the interview reminded me well of Laura Ingraham's book, it also served to sadden me because of its sophistry. You see, James Taylor was a hero of mine in days past.

As an exercise to better explain Singer Taylor's condition, Tim Graham of mrc News Busters recently wrote:

The Associated Press knows when something should be on its "Big Story" page...like another liberal celebrity who still thinks Obama is the greatest. AP's Meksin Fesadu began: "Barack Obama supporter James Taylor doesn't just think the U.S. president is great - he believes Obama is the greatest of all-time."

"I've been watching politics since Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, and Obama is my favorite, favorite president," Taylor told AP on Wednesday. "I am just thankful for every day that he's in office. I am so proud that he represents my country and I think he represents me - I think he represents the America that I know."

Taylor, 67, was last seen helping his pal John Kerry apologize to the French in song after Obama blew off a march of world leaders mourning the Charlie Hebdo attacks. The admiration is mutual with Team Obama: He performed "America the Beautiful" at Obama's second inauguration in 2013.

"I had a really tough time during the Cheney-Bush years, I did, and I had a hard time accepting that that administration represented me because I don't think they did," Taylor said.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also called Obama's family "precious" and said he appreciates the U.S. leader because he's "sane" and "balanced."

"He promised to give us a health care system, it's a work in progress, but he has put us on a road to that," Taylor said. "I'm so grateful for what he's done for gay rights and for the emancipation of gay people. Particularly from my point of view, I think that was so overdue and so important, and so important for America to be ahead of the curve on this."

You can easily tell that Taylor is one of those celebrity ideologues who's unwillingness to remember all the way back to how the Democrats were with Ronald Reagan or George W. Bush. This is the most obstructionist Congress in his lifetime:

"I've never seen a Congress that has been so obstructive and so contrary and so committed to doing anything that will foul up this administration. I just think it's an absolute scandal that he has had so little cooperation," he said. "So anyway, you hit a nerve and I'll go on forever. But I'll just say it a third time: Every day that Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are in the White House is a day that I am thankful for."

It's not exactly shocking that "The singer said he's on the Hillary Rodham Clinton train, too." She's not polarizing, she's unifying!

"And aside from the fact that she's a woman running, she's the right person. ... The whole point - black or white, male or female, gay or straight, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, atheist - it doesn't matter what these other connections are," he said. "Our country needs to come together and the question is, 'Is this public servant someone who will bring us together?' And I think she is."

These poorly considered, near infantile comments sadden me, but I have come to expect it. No, I will not swear off of James Taylor's music, and I wish him good health to live well and continue to create what he does best - make music, not sophistic commentary.

Years ago, I met a very young James Taylor, when I was 15 in Washington, NC at the old Pamlico Marine. James was about 22 - tall, reed thin (I probably weighed more than he did) with stringy long hair pulled back in a pony tail.

He was affable, polite, and I will remember those 15 minutes we spoke far longer than maybe he deserves, but that is the condition of celebrity, and a very young one at that.

James Taylor is proved to be a very talented, gracious, good person, who just happens to be very liberal ("Not that there is anything wrong with that").

I prefer to consider his music and his affable nature to be the sum of his purpose, not his poorly considered politics, which will nonetheless be well considered by the 'low information Liberal' or 'low information moderate', who can not form original thoughts for some sad reason. This is how Liberals win and are ruining our nation at every level of government. It is all about the lowest common denominator in intellect, and that just will not work any longer if our Republic is to survive.

What a life.

I can't imagine smoking pot at 60, or 50, or even 40, and smoking pot in your 30's with children everywhere ... forget about it.

Regarding another music icon, I am just now beginning to read Willie Nelson’s next to last autobiography “It’s a Long Story”. Before I got to page 9 he was complaining about the IRS disallowing all his tax shelters and taking away all his property. They even threatened to take away his beat up Guitar. I will give him credit though, he did not declare bankruptcy but continued to sing an eventually paid back enough to satisfy the IRS. I would like to report that it was a matter of pride and principle but there was this statement on page 10.
“If you want to get out alive” said one advisor, “your only hope is bankruptcy.”
Willie replied “But wouldn’t that mean the IRS owning me for the rest of my life?”
“They’d be at every concert, collecting the ticket sales. They’d get every nickel of every record I sell from now until I die.”
On the next page, he has his answer. “I’ll have a little toke, play a little golf, take a little nap, and play a little dominoes”.

I was no where that goofy for Ronald Reagan, and he was unequivocally the best president in modern times.

I think old JT is just following Carole King's advise.
When you're down and troubled and you need a helping hand
and nothing, whoa, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.
You just call out my name "OBAMA", and you know where ever I am I'll come running.
I might he will come running with others people's money.
I'm just wondering if he will be dead broke like Bill & Hillary after he leaves office.

That "You've Got a Friend" moment was a sad moment for JT. It was definitely a cringe moment, and should make someone of JT's stature to question: Do I need a manager here?

It was unbelievably sad for him to used in such a sophistic ploy. But he did agree to it, so, sadly, he is complicit.

If Elvis had only lived. If Buddy Holly had only lived. Both Southern boys.

Even Jimi Hendrix was apolitical. For Jimi it was all about the music. If Jimi had only lived.

Actually Jimi was a paratrooper until he broke his ankle, and they mustered him out, honorably discharged.

Can I mention Elvis who refused to make political comments and served his time in the Army like a man. Thank you. Thank you very much.

"W" just made a commencement address at SMU. His best line was about C students. " You too can be president". I'm sure he did not write that line as we know most Presidents and ex-Presidents have speech writers. I wish I had known that when I was a just below average "C" student. I never thought I could have been president because I have more skeletons than would fit in a warehouse. But then again, old Slick Willy dispelled that problem for the rest of all time.

Winston Churchill said something like:

'A person, who is not a Liberal, before the age of 30, doesn't have a heart.

And a person, who is not a Conservative, after the age of 30, doesn't have a brain.'

Winston Churchill actually was a Conservative.

Gene, no real Conservative considers any of the Bushs Conservatives - good men, but not Conservatives.

You, Liberals would not know that. I just don't think you have been 'hard wired' to know that yet.

It brings to mind the old Winston Churchill quote. But I still find myself lost in the dream of woulda, coulda, shoulda, sometimes. I stole that from someone but I can't credit them as that would diminish my own brilliance.

Have a few good Conservative observations from your las presidential hero:

Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —Nashville, Tenn.,

"I miss being pampered." --George W. Bush, reflecting on his presidency, University of Texas at Tyler, Oct. 19, 2010

"This is my maiden voyage. My first speech since I was the president of the United States and I couldn't think of a better place to give it than Calgary, Canada." --George W. Bush, as reported by the Associated Press, Calgary, Canada, March 17, 2009
