Minnie Trueblood Sawyer, age 92, a resident of 1624 Highland Drive, Ridgewood Manor, Washington, died Thursday, July 2, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Asbury United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Jim Reed, Pastor Ron Estes and Rev. Lee Hendricks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church.

Mrs. Sawyer was born on Sept. 4, 1922, the daughter of the late Julian Trueblood and Thelma Leggett Trueblood. She married Grover Harold Sawyer, her husband of 66 years, on Aug. 10, 1941, who preceded her in death. Minnie was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church for approximately 40 years where she served in numerous capacities including teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the church choir and was an active member of the Ladies Circle. She and her husband Harold left Asbury to help found Harvest Church where she was active cooking for the Wednesday night church dinners as well as hosting Monday night Bible studies in her home. She returned to Asbury in 2010. Minnie loved the Lord and her family. She thoroughly enjoyed company and entertaining in her home but also enjoyed eating out. Minnie remained an enthusiastic member of the Good Time Girls luncheon group. The past four years, she resided at the Ridgewood Manor where she participated in several activities. She faithfully read the Bible every day and after becoming blind in 1998 she listened to it on CD. Minnie truly loved the Lord and was a great prayer warrior. She was an inspiration to many and will truly be missed. The family is grateful to all of the staff of Ridgewood Manor for their outstanding care for the past four years and to AseraCare Hospice.

Mrs. Sawyer is survived by two sons, Grover H. Sawyer and wife Carol of Washington, and Rod Sawyer and wife Paula of Ellicott City, Md.; a sister, Laura Bell and husband Dr. F. Durant Bell of Galloway Ridge at Fearrington, Pittsboro; her grandchildren, Jason E. Sawyer and Brendan M. Sawyer both of Round Rock, Texas; and David M. Sawyer of Breckenridge, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren. Along with her husband Harold, she was preceded in death by a sister, Leggette Tripp and two brothers, S. Neal Trueblood and Julian Trueblood.
