Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     Governor and First Lady McCrory are hosting an Adopt a Pet event on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The event will be held on the front lawn of the Executive Mansion which is located at 200 North Blount Street, Raleigh, N.C.

The event is being held in memory of Ernest, a French bulldog who was rescued from a puppy mill in 2012.
"When you adopt a pet, you are saving not only one life, but two," said First Lady Ann McCrory. "You are saving the pet you adopt, and making room for another dog or cat to have the opportunity to be adopted. Our state's animal centers and non-profits are full of dogs and cats longing for a loving family and home of their own. They have big hearts and are ready to be your best friend like our 102 pound baby, Moe."

"Adoption is a great way to add a pet into your family like our dog, Moe," Governor McCrory said. "Ann and I urge those who are looking to adopt a pet to attend and rescue a dog or cat of their own."

Click here to view the invitation and R.S.V.P. by October 21, 2015. An R.S.V.P. and photo I.D. will be required to enter the event. Do not bring personal pets.

The Office of the First Lady and the Office of the Governor are partnering with the Wake County Animal Center, SPCA of Wake County (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty for Animals) and SAFE Haven for Cats.

Parking will be available on N. Blount, Jones, Person and Lane Streets, in addition to a public parking lot at the corner of N. Blount and Jones Streets.
