Dueling Hits - Chuck Berry - 1958 | Eastern NC Now

OK Just try to sit still and keep from singing along.

Publisher's note: I have initiated this new segment on BCN, where I determine the Best Music Ever ... and, 'with a little help from my friends'. I do this from my opinion, for what that is worth, where I will measure the best music that I am familiar with.

I do this for two reasons: 1) I want to expose the best music that I know to the rest of us. 2) Popular Music today may be the very worst it has ever been, and that is saying much, since I lived through Disco.

For a list of all of the contributions to this series, please click here.

As previously mentioned, there will be others who share their favorites with our BCN readers, in particular here, Bobby Tony.

Another one of the greatest songs, Transcending Eras "Johnnie B. Goode"

OK Just try to sit still and keep from singing along.

Here is my first entry into the Dueling Music of the Era's.     Without a doubt there have been many songs that came and went on the music scene but at the birth of rock and roll, there was good old Chuck Berry in 1958. For this 13 year old boy, He defined the rock and roll era as it expanded from the white boy Elvis with his black influenced roots to an equal opportunity toe tapping, hand clapping, and guitar inspired let it all hang out base of fans.

The story is an old Horatio Alger story which was pretty much Chuck Berry himself. He was born on a 2520 Goode Avenue in ST Louis.

When they made the movie "Back to the Future" that was supposed to transcend the generations, there was only one song that could have a foot in 1985 and 1955 (forgive Hollywood for the poor math)

My Dueling Hits is mostly artist based with one song highlighted as It would take quite a while to cover all my favorites. The list also changes each time I sit down and try to rank em. I am working my way up from my early teens until I lost track of music.

As a young Rock'n'Roller, after Woodstock and before Disco, often, when I ventured out to get my Boogie on, I would go to clubs where rock'n'roll bands would play, and, invariably, the band would often play Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode" to stoke Rock's spiritual fire just one more time.

Chuck Berry was a massive Rock 'n' Roll influence.

My favorite Rock 'n' Roll Song was Built by Legends Dueling Hits, Best Music Ever, Music through the Ages, Music Reviews, Music, The Arts Dueling Hits - The Everly Brothers - 1958
