Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C. — Governor Pat McCrory today signed a bill that will move both the state's presidential primary and the general primary for state elected offices to March 15, 2016. The governor signed the bill after getting an agreement from the legislature to make revisions to a section of the bill regarding changes to campaign finance law.

"There were specific concerns I had with the original version of the bill, and the General Assembly agreed to make revisions to address those concerns," said Governor McCrory. "This bill as signed increases the transparency for the general public and members of the media."

Governor McCrory asked for the section establishing affiliated party committees to include a provision ensuring that money raised by those committees could only be used for those specific offices; that contributions from lobbyists or political action committees not be allowed while the legislature is in session; and includes all members of the Council of State. All of those changes were agreed to.

Other bills signed by the governor today include:

  • HB 912 — Exempts from property tax real and personal property located on lands held in trust by the United States for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, regardless of ownership, effective for taxes imposed for beginning on or after July 1, 2016.
  • HB 495 — Makes technical corrections to Human Resources Management system to ensure a uniform system of State personnel administration under the Governor.
  • H730 — Creates the Next Generation 911 Reserve Fund to implement Next Generation 911. The bill authorizes the 911 Board to establish purchasing agreements for statewide procurement and allows the PSAP Grant Account to be used to enhance 911 service. The bill updates the 911 statutes to include new technology and makes technical corrections.
  • S513 — Provides regulatory relief to the agricultural community of North Carolina by providing for various transportation and environmental reforms and by making various other statutory changes.

The "bragging gov" it trying so hard to convince us "Conservatives care" about anyone in NC who is not one of them. Meanwhile, he tells us our state taxes are lessened and I can't find a single working citizen whose tax was not greater under his new tax code . . .
