Beaufort County Flooded: Road Issues from the Storms

Good Evening:
The Wind and Wind gust are successfully flooding many areas along both sides of Pungo and Pamlico Rivers. The listing below does not account for many of the side roads off of these roads. Water depths can vary from two inches to three feet or more. We have had scattered power outages around the County and these will continue throughout tomorrow until the winds change direction or diminish. In light of this situation we have sent out a Hyper-Reach message to everyone in the County concerning traveling safely with all the high water and wind gust in the County.
Any ambulance being dispatched to an area near the rivers or their primary tributary needs to have a Fire Apparatus accompany them when possible. The water levels are varying up and down and several locations would have water running in the doors of the ambulances when they are attempting to get to the patients. This may slow down some responses, but we must insure the safety and arrival of EMS personnel to the scenes.
This situation is only temporary, however, the National Weather Service gave us the warnings for Coastal flooding earlier today. Some departments will need to alter their business plans if they include working in areas that are flooded or beyond the flooded portions of roads. I hope no one gets injured during the time period of the high water, but with good defensive driving and weather awareness we will work through this latest challenge from "Mother nature".

* IMPACTS...A FEW DOWNED TREES...POWER LINES...AND ISOLATED POWER
OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE.
