Jones Wins Award For Fighting For Military Personnel | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

WASHINGTON, D.C.     Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) has received the American Logistics Association's (ALA) Distinguished Service Award for his commitment to improving the quality of life for active duty and retired military, veterans, and their families. The ALA was founded in 1920 to represent those that support improved quality of life for military personnel and their families through commissary, exchange and other programs at the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Homeland Security.

"It is our duty to make sure those who serve our great nation by putting their lives on the line have access to the services they need and deserve," said Congressman Jones. "I am honored to do all I can to help those who wear the uniform."

"There is no more passionate defender of the programs and services provided to our military men and women than Congressman Walter Jones," said ALA President Patrick Nixon. "With service members being asked to do more, endure longer separations and face uncertainties in life once they return home, the need for strong advocacy to support and protect their quality of life benefits is greater now than ever."

Congressman Jones has long been a staunch supporter of active duty military, veterans, and their families. Last Congress, Congressman Jones cosponsored a career record 86 bills to help veterans by providing better access to more transparent healthcare, access to educational opportunities, affordable housing, and job opportunities. In fact, over the past three years, Congressman Jones has cosponsored more bills to help veterans than any member of Congress.
