"Run Smoke on the Water" with the Lifestyles 5K and Washington Noon Rotary 10K | Eastern North Carolina Now

In conjunction with the annual "Smoke on the Water" in downtown Washington there will be two races that are open to runners and walkers, children and adults. Lifestyles Medical Fitness Center is hosting a 5K and Washington Noon Rotary is hosting a Polio Plus 10K on Saturday, October 22, 2011.

    (Washington, N.C.) - In conjunction with the annual "Smoke on the Water" in downtown Washington there will be two races that are open to runners and walkers, children and adults. Lifestyles Medical Fitness Center is hosting a 5K and Washington Noon Rotary is hosting a Polio Plus 10K on Saturday, October 22, 2011.

    These races will begin and end on the waterfront of downtown Washington. Registration, located at the Estuarium, begins at 7:00am and the races start at 8:00am. Both courses parallel the river and encompass some of the area's most historic neighborhoods.

    The events welcome a wide range of participants; from competitive runners to families with children. Both races are not just about competing; they're about having fun and promoting healthier lifestyles within the community. Proceeds from the Lifestyles 5K will fund wellness scholarships and the Washington Noon Rotary will fund Polio Plus from proceeds raised by their 10K.

    To pre-register please visit www.ecrun.org. The pre-registration fee for the Lifestyles race is $20 and the registration fee the day of the race will be $25. Youths 16 years and younger can be registered for only $15. A t-shirt is included with your registration fee and will be distributed the day of the race. Sizes are guaranteed to pre-registered participants. Pre-registration fee for the Polio Plus race is $25 and the registration fee on race day is $30. Youths 18 years and younger can be registered for only $15. T-shirts are included with the registration fee and will be distributed the morning of the race. Sizes are first come first serve basis.
