Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C. - Roy "Do Nothing" Cooper hasn't been doing his job as attorney general and has been employing a deliberate strategy to hide from the press and public during his campaign for governor in order to avoid scrutiny of his record. But just how bad is it?

A new analysis shows that since January 1, Governor McCrory has held 149 public events across North Carolina through his campaign and official government office, while Attorney General Roy Cooper has only held 42. Governor McCrory has taken part in well over 70 TV and radio interviews since January 1, but Attorney General Roy Cooper has only done 9 one-on-one interviews (including no sit-down TV interviews since the gubernatorial primary).

The average U.S. adult sent 36 business emails a day in 2014, according to technology market research firm The Radicati Group. But Roy Cooper has only sent 16 emails using his official Department of Justice email account during his 16-year tenure as attorney general, according to a recent report by WRAL. In comparison, Roy Cooper has sent over 81 mass campaign fundraising emails and 408 tweets from his account, @RoyCooperNC, since January 1, 2016.

"Roy Cooper has been deliberately skirting public records laws and hiding from the public because he believes he shouldn't have to be accountable for not doing his job," said Ricky Diaz, Pat McCrory's campaign spokesman. "While Governor McCrory routinely holds public events and answers questions from the press, North Carolina's chief law enforcement officer has only sent 16 emails in 16 years as attorney general, proving he is even less transparent and honest than Hillary Clinton."
