For Immediate Release

Beaufort County is announcing that the pick up and removal of construction and demolition debris throughout the county will be winding down. Residents who still have this debris related to the Hurricane Irene storm event should make plans to have this set out in front of their homes on a state maintained right of way by Sunday November 20, 2011.

"Beaufort County's contractor has made an initial pass throughout the county and removed a majority of the debris related to the storm that was along the state roadways. We understand that there are still residents struggling to move their debris to the side of the road, and we want to make every effort in ensuring that these individuals are provided an opportunity in this second pass that we are currently making" stated Jim Chrisman, Beaufort County's Assistant County Manager.

Residents who have construction and demolition debris to dispose of after the November 20th deadline can personally take this debris to the transfer station at Flanders Filters Road in Washington. Both state and local officials will be monitoring debris disposal after the deadline and individuals who are caught dumping debris on the roadways after that date will be fined.

As was previously announced, FEMA will not permit homeowners to demo their home and dump or push the debris to the side of the road. In order for FEMA to pay for the removal of demoed homes, the homeowner is required to complete an application process to determine eligibility. Homeowners who demo their home without written permission from FEMA will be responsible for the removal of their debris to a licensed landfill. Those who are interested in determining if they are eligible to have their home demolition debris removed can call the Beaufort County Emergency Management Office at 252-946-2046 or visit the Beaufort County Debris website at http://www.co.beaufort.nc.us/index.php/2011/10/hurricane-irene-debris-removal-process/ .

Latest Governing Beaufort County

The city council has only made two official acts as of February 16, 2026
While this afternoon’s update once again included increased probabilities of moderate to major impacts, it will likely be tomorrow before we receive specific accumulation details.
Government and its bureaucracy are not perfect, and never has been in this self-governed society, here at the local level, at our state level, and at our federal level, therefore, it is incumbent upon all elected politicians to seek a comfortable level of representation for our constituents.
Beaufort County is implementing a new emergency alert system. All residents are encouraged to sign up to receive alerts via phone and email.

Has the local government acted responsibly and transparently?
Beaufort County Commissioners meet, and work by a majority vote to do the business of those constituents they purport to represent.
Waste, fraud, abuse and incompetence continue to govern county school budgets and decision making.

However, if one believes that Beaufort County government is in full command of the issues of our times, here locally, one might need to steel their resolve for a more perfect understanding of the intellect possessed by the Center-Left /Left Coalition.
To borrow a big phrase from this salient plan originating at the federal level, under President Trump's watchful eye, whose time has finally arrived, even here in the mispent realm of Beaufort County government(s).
We must vet, and elect those who will actually represent the people or we will be stuck with the same mess we have now.
