Liberal Professor Argues the "Moral" Right to End Life Before it Begins. | Eastern North Carolina Now

What Are You Saying: That the Beginning of Life is Accorded a "Moral Status"?

If you have ever had a deep discussion with a committed Liberal, have you ever been incontrovertibly amazed by the whole of their sophistry, and have ever wondered: How did this individual become this person with this brand of intellect?

Of course, this depends on the relative intellectual depth of an individual, or lack thereof; however, I am an optimist, and I do like to think the best of people until I learn differently. That well considered, I generally like Liberals; mostly find them entertaining, or humorous, whether I am laughing with them or at them; however, today, I was completely astounded by the depth of the unmitigated sophistry of Princeton philosophy professor Elizabeth Harman as she explains the "moral status" of a fetus.

Actor James Franco and associate, Eliot Michaelson, discusses the 'Irrelevance of life to a Liberal Woman', as explained by Princeton philosophy professor Elizabeth Harman; it is a judgement thing contingent upon her view of whether the fetus does or does not enjoy selective "moral status": Below.

Watch the video, and see if you see what I see: It is a convoluted explanation as to what constitutes one's humanity, or as Ms. Harman explain's it "moral status"; but, if you listen closely, the Liberal Professor ends up arguing against herself, which is a remarkable feat since she is the frumpish professor of philosophy at a once proud Ivy League University.

I would argue the rights of the fetus, and that it does deserve "moral status", but that would be a redundancy of a common intellect that should be inherent within all decent human beings. What concerns me is that this professor has the job of influencing young minds, and because of her lofty status, undeserved or no, she does, and will continue to make her egregiously poor indelible mark.

To some extent, I agree; however, there are many women that use abortion as a birth control tool. I got a problem with that.

Those who are wise and compassionate could realize that women deserve to be protected from undue abuse from the men who got them pregnant . . .

Gene, I do appreciate your sensible discussion, although I don't agree with all of it, but it does show that you are aware that real life, God's gift to humanity, constitutes more than the cool ramblings of a pretentious pseudo intellectual, who has not intellect to understand her own words, and their meaning.

I have yet to meet a woman who had an abortion who did not feel guilt over the decision. This is such a superficial discussion as to not warrant much argument. My problem with abortion is the way it soon ignores the simple problem of a child not really wanted and how such lack of will translates to a bad environment which tends to warp normal development normally had in a loving and inviting family.

The worst evil I see in most current abortion debate is how women could be relegated to back room abortions in shadows the procedure does not need. Before Roe v. Wade was decided women lived in a hell of being stuck with an unwanted child to rear as well as great danger from filthy procedures.

Another problem I have is with anti-abortion people disguising themselves as a clinic or service to offer help to a struggling woman. They bombard an already guilt-ridden person with more pressure to change their troubled mind in a pre-determined direction. In such a case you have used a lie to a dilemma full of moral angst!

The lady sounds and acts so superficial that I would not expect many in her class to take her seriously and be influenced greatly. This is a most serious matter for anyone pregnant and not wanting a child. There are so many people wanting to adopt a child that I would lean to that route as a wiser road.

As a summary observation, I think much of the political debate on this is being done by men who don't have to bear a child. I would caution men to defer to women as the real victims of unwanted pregnancy. How dare any man dictate to women when he is likely not going to undertake the financial and moral responsibility of fatherhood.

To make a bad situation worse is never wise, in my view . . .
