TMc: Characteristics of Senior Men 06 - Coach | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Red Green Advice Videos

I decided to call this article Coach to simplify my thought process. Senior men can coach youngsters then get out of the way and let them succeed or fail. Leaders must stay on the field and take some responsibility for the final scores and Teachers are forced to test the student's retention of the lecture. So, those two descriptions are not focused like Coach.

Interpersonal is 6th on the aforementioned list but is confusing. I found Social Skills and various terms on other lists.

Assuming the senior man is retired, obviously he no longer needs to fight his way up the corporate ladder or lead the invasion of a small Asian country. But let's not assume he is on the golf course in the Gated Community. Everyone must come out to a family reunion or VFW meeting. The idea is that a retired man is not required to lead or follow but simply fit-in with a group. Fitting in is boring and most of us are compelled to add something to the conversations.

Conclusion: Senior men have life experiences that only age will provide. Vicarious reading and overhearing conversations are useful but not complete. The word Coach implies the man was once a player...hopefully but not necessarily a successful player. Decrease in physical and mental acumen forced him off the field and he can now help the youngsters improve.

The last, 7th Characteristic, article is in progress to help define Senior Men. Live long and prosper say Star Trek Leonard Nimoy.
