BCCC Brings Career Advisors to Campus | Eastern NC Now

    WASHINGTON, N.C.     With spring semester started, students will soon focus on their post-college plans. While many students at Beaufort County Community College will continue their education at a four-year institution, some students are ready to start their career. To help smooth their entry into the workforce, BCCC is partnering with NCWorks and the Region Q Workforce Development Board to bring career advisors to campus.

    "This is a fantastic piece that we have been missing for the last few years," said Rick Anderson, vice president of student services.

    Starting in January, NCWorks will be sending one of their career advisors to BCCC to work on our campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They will be assisting students with career exploration and guidance, resume writing and interviewing skills. They will also be assisting students with job placements and closing the gap between local employers and graduates.

    NCWorks is a state agency working across North Carolina to match job seekers with regional employers.

    "We are the largest supplier of qualified employees in the county," said Anderson. "Some of our students are brand new to the workforce. Some of them are new to professional settings. They may have filled out a job application before, but they may not feel confident in putting together a resume."

    "Our students have come to college because they want to find a career that matches their needs and aspirations. We want to help them figure out what that is, and when they do, to go after that dream job."

    Students can visit Andrew Bost in Building 9 on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. or set up an appointment at 252-940-6313.
