    The following classes are available at the Washington County Center in Roper through the Continuing Education Department at BCCC.     Defensive Driving -DDC-4

    Students can learn to drive defensively for the sake of family, friends and themselves. It is important to get there safely and without incident. Students will learn to recognize hazards, understand defenses, and act correctly and promptly to avoid problems on the highway. Everyone is safer when you drive defensively, and students will avoid costly traffic tickets. This class has the backing of the district attorney, too. It will also satisfy the requirement of many businesses that employ drivers. Independent sessions will take place March 17, April 14 and May 12. Classes run from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and cost $70.

    Social Media for Beginners

    Social media is everywhere. Social media has even helped overthrow governments, but how can social media help a business start, grow, and/or maintain customers? Join Christina Williams, as she helps expand business owners' knowledge on this important advertising, marketing and communication tool. This free workshop will take place March 22 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

    How to Start a Non-Profit Business

    There is tremendous interest coming from communities wanting to know how to form a non-profit business. Careful consideration should be given to this quest and much attention needs to be given to the proper steps to take. Failure to do so could result in serious consequences for individuals as well as becoming detrimental to the original cause for which the non-profit was designed. With the help of Sam Gore, participants will discover the basics of what a non-profit business is, refine the definition of a non-profit and consider certain issues before starting a non-profit. They will learn the key steps in forming a non-profit, including forms and documents that need to be filed, what takes place at the first board meeting and weighing the need for an attorney. This free class will take place on March 26 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
