Press Release:

Students Have Avenue to Confidentially Help Protect Their Campus

It’s OK to SAY is a new Beaufort County Schools initiative which allows students to confidentially report bullying, harassment, drugs and weapons or other dangerous acts on their school campus. Remember, callers DO NOT have to give their name. Students, or adults, may call the tip line at 940-6545.

“We want our students to feel comfortable taking a role in the safety of their campus,” explained Dr. Don Phipps, Superintendent of Beaufort County Schools. “It’s the place they spend a large majority of their time. They should expect to feel safe being there. The tip line allows them to report things that may infringe on that safety.”

It’s OK to SAY is the second initiative this year to allow students and adults to play a role in safety. Earlier this year, online Report a Bully or Harassment links were added to each school web page. Administrators and school resource officers follow up on tips provided through the web links just as they will with the OK to SAY line.
