President Trump Cleared on First Impeachment Charge | Eastern North Carolina Now

He is only one vote away from total vindication.

The abuse of power impeachment charge came up for a vote first and the president was acquitted in a close to party line vote of 52-48. Republican Mitt Romney of Utah voted with Democrats to convict the president.

The import of this first vote cannot be exaggerated. It sounds the Democrat death knell for the second obstruction of Congress vote and puts an end to this chapter of the attempted coup against the POTUS.

But Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have already said they will refuse to recognize the verdict and will regard Trump as an illegitimate president.

Since they have regarded him as that since he was inaugurated, nothing is expected to change.

The Democrats plan to continue their flight from reality and oppose the president through every means possible. That could even mean supporting violent agitation, as their hatred and bitterness at the president for beating them once again has no end, no limit.

    But this gambit is dead.

The Democrat attitude towards the president on impeachment is quite reminiscent of one of Captain Ahab's, or Captain Khan's, last lines to his victorious antagonist, "To the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee."

The next and final vote puts the last nail in the coffin of Democrat plans on this issue. All they really accomplished in the end was to raise scores of millions of dollars for the GOP, tarnish their current front runner Joe Biden, and drag the American people through years of muck.

However, since the fate of America is very low on their priority list, the Democrats will be back at their abysmal effort once again in the days to come.
