    Saturday, August 4, 2012       Longleaf Pines       2:00 pm

    Meet at the park Visitor Center to enjoy a ranger lead program on our native Longleaf Pines. Learn about the tree’s past, present and importance. There will be some hands-on activities to partake in as well, so bring the whole family!

    Saturday, August 11, 2012       Star Gazing for Constellations       9:00

    Please meet at the park Visitor Center where you will be introduced to some our summer constellations and the stories that go along with them. After meeting in the Visitor Center we will walk across the street to an observation field. You are encouraged to bring binoculars, bug spray, blankets and chairs. If the sky is cloudy we will hold the program in the Visitor Center.

    Saturday, August 18, 2012       Palmetto Boardwalk Hike       6:00 pm

    This is an easy two-mile hike through one of North Carolina’s most beautiful wetlands. During the hike you will see, first hand, how Mother Nature can quickly and drastically change the environment. There will be periodic stops to discuss a variety of things that make up and inhabit Goose Creek State Park. Bring your camera because you never know what we will come across. Meet at the park Visitor Center and bring bug spray.

    Saturday, August 25, 2012       All about Bats, 2012       6:00 pm

    Meet in the park Visitor Center to learn about some of our native bats and serious issues they are facing. You will learn ways to help reduce bugs in your own backyard while helping one of our most misunderstood animals.

RALEIGH: Today, Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR) Secretary Reid Wilson celebrated Earth Day by visiting Goose Creek State Park in Washington.
Washington, N.C. – The inaugural Rivers East Advanced Manufacturing Academy took place at Pitt Community College on Friday, September 23rd.
Please join us at the park visitor center on Saturday, October 8th from 3-5 pm where we will host a Halloween Wildlife Event.
