French Officials Decline To Confirm That Epstein Associate Died In Prison From Suicide: Report | Eastern North Carolina Now

Jean-Luc Brunel, the former French model agency boss and associate the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, was found dead in his prison cell in Paris during the early morning hours on Saturday.

Initially his death was reported by many as a suicide because of statements made by his lawyers.

ABC News reported later on Saturday, however, that French officials have declined to confirm those details.

    ABC News reported:

Brunel was initially arrested in Charles De Gaulle Airport in December 2020. According to Paris prosecutors, Brunel was initially held in a probe into the rape of minors and trafficking of minors for sexual exploitation in association with their probe into possible crimes committed by Epstein. Days later, Brunel was charged with rape of minors over the age of 15 and sexual harassment. Brunel maintained he was innocent.

"[Brunel's] distress (despair) was the one of a 75-year-old man who was destroyed by the judicial-media lynching and we should question it," Brunel's attorneys Mathias Chichportich, Marianne Abgrall, and Christophe Ingrain said in a statement. "Our client firmly asserted he never abused any women. He made multiple efforts to prove it. His decision was not led by a feeling of guilt but by a deep feeling of injustice."

At the time of his arrest, prosecutors said, "He is suspected of having committed rape, sexual aggression and sexual harassment on different victims, underage and adult, and in particular of having organised the transport and housing of young girls or young women for Jeffrey Epstein."

Epstein was found dead in his jail cell back in the Summer of 2019 after the convicted sexual predator was arrested on new charges.

Dr. Marc Siegel told Fox News after Epstein's death the recent revelation that Epstein had certain broken bones in his neck made it more likely that his death was a homicide and not a suicide, based on statistics.

The Fox segment came in response to The Washington Post reporting late on Wednesday night that Epstein's autopsy found that he sustained multiple breaks in his neck bones, which "deepen[ed] the mystery about the circumstances around his death."

"Among the bones broken in Epstein's neck was the hyoid bone, which in men is near the Adam's apple," the Post added. "Such breaks can occur in those who hang themselves, particularly if they are older, according to forensics experts and studies on the subject. But they are more common in victims of homicide by strangulation, the experts said."

"The hyoid bone in the neck being fractured and other fractures in the neck, make it more likely, and again, this is a percentage call, more likely that it was a homicide than a suicide," Siegel, a Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine, told Fox.
