‘I Don’t Want To Reinvent Myself’: Harrison Ford Talks About Upcoming ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel ‘1923’ | Eastern NC Now

    Legendary actor Harrison Ford said in a recent interview that at 80 years old he does not want to reinvent himself and just wants to work as much as possible.

    Ford made the remarks during an interview with The New York Times about some of his more recent roles, including "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," "Shrinking," and "1923" - a prequel for the hit show "Yellowstone."

    "I've been working pretty much back-to-back, which is not what I normally do," said Ford. "I don't know how it happened, but it happened."

    His role in "1923" is his first major television role after audiences grew to know and love him after he starred in Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Jack Ryan, and others.

    The show is a prequel to "Yellowstone," a show about rancher John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, and his fight to keep his ranch amid constant political and family conflicts.

    Ford said that he was stunned by the scope of the show because it was much larger than anything he's ever seen for a television role.

    "They keep calling it television," Ford said. "But it's so un-television. It is, you know, a huge vista. It's an incredibly ambitious story that he's telling in epic scale. The scale of the thing is enormous I think for the television."

    Ford agreed to the role after the lead creator of the show informed him that he would be playing a 77-year-old "stoic and somber rancher who must battle in the final years of his life to protect his land and family," according to the Times.

    "I don't want to reinvent myself," he said. "I just want to work."

    When work started on the show, Ford was told to approach it as if he was he filming movies that were 10 hours long with the difference being that there would be less relaxation time during filming because "we're working at a television pace."
