Patricia Bitting Oswalt | Eastern NC Now

    Patricia Bitting Oswalt, age 66, a resident of Washington, NC, died Sunday April 2, 2023, at her home.

    A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday April 6, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.

    Patricia attended Shippensburg University where she received a degree in Social Work. She worked as a social worker in Wayne and Pitt County until she had her son and then became a preschool teacher at St. Peter's Day School in Washington and First Methodist Church. She also worked at the Read Me A Book program in Beaufort County. She loved working with children and using her creativity to make each one feel special and loved. The kids she taught loved her, and she was known as "Miss Patty" to hundreds of children in our community. She was an amazing person loved by all who knew her. Her favorite things in life were the beach, rock music, and her family who also loved her dearly.

    Miss Patty is survived by her husband, Patrick Oswalt of Washington, NC, her son Davis Oswalt and daughter-in-law Allison Oswalt of Sumter, SC, and her granddaughter, Alina Oswalt of Sumter, SC.

    She was preceded in death by her father James Dale Bitting of Marysville, PA, her mother, Mary Bitting, of Harrisburg, PA, and her brother, James D. Bitting, Jr. of Richmond Hill, GA. The Bitting family made their home in Goldsboro, NC for many years.
