Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed the Biden administration's recent report on the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan as "revisionist history."

Cruz made the remarks during an episode of his podcast "Verdict" with co-host Ben Ferguson.

The senator specifically called out a statement from National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby, who claimed that the widely criticized withdrawal was not chaotic.

"For all this talk of chaos, I just didn't see it!" Kirby asserted.

"Look, there is a theme across the board of this administration and this White House: They lie for a living," Cruz said. "Whether it's John Kirby lying about Afghanistan, whether it is Mayorkas lying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, whether it's Karine Jean-Pierre, standing up and lying over and over and over again, 'People aren't just walking across the border,' she says. Well, that's a lie."

Cruz then took aim at Kirby's claim that "there was a lot that went right" with the pullout from Afghanistan.

"This is revisionist history. This is trying to go back and say, 'Don't believe your lying eyes when you saw it happen. I'm telling you what the official government story is,'" Cruz fired back. "He's proud of the job they did. You know what is shocking? Nobody lost their job. Secretary of defense wasn't fired. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs wasn't fired. John Kirby wasn't fired."

Cruz compared Kirby to "Baghdad Bob," a reference to former Iraq propagandist Mohammed Saeed Al-Sahaf who was known for making outrageously false claims. As NBC News reported, as U.S. forces stormed the capital, Al-Sahaf claimed that they were "committing suicide by the hundreds on the gates of Baghdad."

"John Kirby's like Baghdad Bob, he stands up there and just spins," Cruz said. "'No chaos. Everything great. You should be proud.'"
