News release:

Third grade students in Betsy Hodges' class at John C. Tayloe School have been learning what it is like to run a business. They have been discussing "supply" and "demand" and the importance of both. On Wednesday, March 6th, the class participated in MARKET DAY. They set up booths in the classroom and sold items they had brought from home.

Students shopped at each other's booths and used "money" that had been earned through hard work and achievements. Some of the "goods" available for purchase were: paper & pencils, tattoos, jewelry, cookies, popcorn and candy. Some of the "services" available were: hair braiding & nail painting. The students learned a lot about running a successful business and loved the opportunity to experiment in the classroom!

Jaydan Keyes looks at items in Jamarion Smith’s store, while Rolshint Roberson looks on.

Mila Cox shops at Connor Leary’s store while Hunter Linnen is waiting patiently for the next shopper.
