We Are Not Sleeping of Lazy, the Liberals Did it Again | Eastern North Carolina Now

Publisher's Note: This article originally appeared in the County Compass, which is affiliated with the Beaufort Observer.

On July 28 the liberal and uninformed Washington Daily News did an article implying the Republican majority in the Legislature was doing things behind the public's back. Nothing was done behind anybody's back. The population of the State of North Carolina elected a conservative Republican majority and sent them to Raleigh to change things. My opinion along with a lot of other Republican and unaffiliated voters is the Legislature did not change enough things "enough".

The editorial opinion published in the August 6, 2013 Washington Daily News editorial is entitled "It comes as no surprise". Already you know it is judgmental. Nothing like starting an editorial in a newspaper that want you to believe they are fair and balanced with a title like that. The liberal biased media is usually more coy in presenting their hatchet job on Republicans.

This article is about voting laws. The laws the Republican dominated Legislature passed and are, at this writing, waiting on the Governor's signature. Some say the Governor will not sign the voting legislation but he is not politically inept enough to veto the bill. He will probably let it pass without his signature.

The Daily News again whines about the changes in Raleigh being more than anyone ever expected. They have their crying towel out. They indicate they are afraid the political pendulum may still be swinging to the right. Guess what, some would like to jam the political pendulum when it gets as far to the right as it can swing and never allow it to swing even one inch to the left. Those of us who are constitutionally conservative lived with it stuck on the left for more than one hundred years. Are you liberals terrified now?

The Daily News is criticizing Republicans for trying to make elections honest. Republicans do very well in honest elections. It is when anyone can vote without identification, and those who suddenly get patriotic on election day and decide to vote that Republicans are very concerned about. The fact that there are at least twelve million illegals in the United States is what concerns us. That is certainly enough to swing an election on most county, state and the federal levels. Attempts to verify the existence of most of those who registered and voted on election day were not successful. Imagine, several hundred thousand voters who travel from precinct to precinct, county to county, state to state and vote on election day. There is no way to ever catch them because they are using false names. This legislation stopped several kinds of election fraud. If the Daily News is against stopping election fraud, then they must support election fraud. I forgot to mention the liberals say everyone who votes is honest and therefore there is no election fraud. Look at the State of Illinois.

The Daily News is irritated that 17 year olds will no longer be allowed to register to vote at school and the time allowed for early voting has been reduced. Voting and political party registration is a very personal thing. That is why we have the secret ballot. Immature adults are easily swayed by teachers and fellow students. Allowing them to register at school was a bad idea. They need to register away from those kinds of influences and especially where they are tempted to show their friends how they registered. Wonder if how a student registered could affect a grade or a personal relationship. The Democrats invented early voting when they saw how difficult it was to get the relatives of those with the various forms of welfare entitlements to vote. They worked real hard to get those who were unlikely to vote on election day to the poles. They used a lot of absentee ballots. Is it a fair election when Democrats pay ACORN to make sure the right people vote.

A truly amazing thing happed toward the middle of the article. The Daily News accurately presented the truth. I quote "Why the proposed changes? "Simple answer: Republicans believe those existing policies and programs gave Democrats an edge at he polls." I whole heartedly agree. These were corrupt practices that opened the door for fraud during elections. Lets see now, we are back to the place where liberals say everyone is honest on election day. We only have to trust people and they will do the honest thing. Seems to me there was a Republican who said "Trust but verify".

The Daily News, in their liberal fog, make another smart sounding statement. Within that statement lies the truth about these kinds of voter fraud. The statement is: "One would think legislators of any stripe would want to make it easier for people to vote, not more difficult to mark ballots". Oops, a slip, they used the wrong words. Was it a Freudian slip. You know, one of those unintended statements that reveals the truth that is burned into your very soul. The Daily news should not have said "mark ballots", they should have said VOTE BALLOTS. There is a difference. What goes on with early voting and all the forms of fraud the Democrats put into law is a lot of someone either marking or telling someone else how to MARK a ballot.

They then insinuate the changes to our election laws were made in the final hours of this year's legislative session with limited public input and without thorough examination. The Daily News pretends every one else is sleeping and the Legislature did this without public input and on very short notice. Spin. Spin. Spin. Maybe it is the Daily News who is sleeping. This legislation was a hot topic throughout the entire legislative session. Buckets of ink have been used to describe how some of the liberal Republicans wanted to water down the legislation. At one time the liberal Republicans had over three hundred different forms of identification that could be used for voting. The Daily News printed a lot of stories trying to influence this legislation. Be thankful the conservative Republicans stepped up to the plate and cleaned up this legislation to make elections honest in North Carolina.

The Daily News has the crying towel out again. Another liberal law has bit the dust. Daily News, be thankful for our constitution and the freedom of the press. It is legal to be liberal. It may not serve this great nation but it is constitutional to show how little of the constitution you know and to plant the seed within these articles that maybe you have never read it.

The liberal Daily News can show their faith in the honesty and integrity of all of the people by removing the coin pay locks on your news racks and replacing them with a cup sitting on the inside. Those who do not have change would then be able to make their own change. What a great service? I would think news papers of all stripes would want to make it easier for the public to purchase papers. If the Daily news will do it, I will write an article and let everyone know.
