Maria Bamford will Entertain at the Turnage Theater | Eastern North Carolina Now

For Immediate Release

At only 37 years old, Maria Bamford has a long list of impressive credits to her name. Besides starring in her own web sitcom on SuperDeluxe.com, Maria stars in the new Comedy Central series, "The Comedians of Comedy Tour" (as well as in the independent film of the same title out on NETFLIX), and is a series regular on the animated Nickelodeon series CatDog.

Maria Bamford's talent as a comedian has done more than secure her roles in film and on television. Her stand up work has also been recognized by the critics. Variety Magazine has listed Maria as one of the "Top Ten Comics to Watch" and she was voted by Comedy Central viewers as one of their Top Ten Favorite Comics.

Maria started her performing arts career in Duluth, Minnesota at the age of 11 where she starred in the Chester Park Elementary production of "How the West Was Really Won!", but took time off (24 years) for self-discovery and secretarial work, only to rediscover her calling on the standup circuit at the tender age of 35. Since then she has made numerous appearances on late-night television with the likes of Conan and Jay Leno, had her own standup special on Comedy Central, performed at comedy festivals all over the (English-speaking) world, and has been a guest on Prairie Home Companion.

But Maria's talent is not limited to standup comedy. She has also taken on a variety of successful animated roles. Not only is she a regular voice in the "CatDog" series, she has also been a guest star on the Oxygen series "Hey Monie!", in the Cartoon Network's "Home Movies" and played a spider in Charlotte's Web II. And recently, Maria landed roles as Mrs. Beady - the Neurotic Farm Wife in the movie and TV versions of "Barnyard", creations of Steve Odekerk and Nickelodeon Animation.

Maria Bamford will bring her best standup routine to the Turnage Theater in Washington, North Carolina on Friday, February 11th at 8 p.m. Tickets for this event are only $30 and are on sale now at turnagetheater.com, by calling (252) 975-1191, or at the box office at 150 West Main St. Washington NC, (10-4 Monday-Friday).

It began as a light rain Thursday night, January 20th, with temperatures a balmy 46 degrees, and by morning a thin layer of ice clung to the firm, bright reddish green Nandina leaves prevalent upon my personal grounds here in Mac'swood.
The renovated and recently revived Turnage Theater has fallen on some pretty hard times as of late, and is being forced to shutter its doors.
I love watching, and taking pictures of small beautiful things just as much as I love making images of wide sweeping vistas. It is all part of God's natural plan, and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to record it for all posterity.
After four full days of frozen Mac'swood cabin fever, I struggled out to take an iced numbing look a my old muse.
When the ice took over, it was unrelenting, and with the full sun of cloudless days, the snow saw little melt
It was hailed as the Bomb Cyclone, a storm consisting of warmer moist air from the Gulf of Mexico that picked up a spinning motion after its center crossed the northern Florida coast, now over the Gulf Stream, and without delay barrelled north up the Atlantic Seaboard.
Sunsets are a natural phenomenon, and always a process where one can estimate that the evening will produce a magnificent sunset, but, one can never be altogether sure until it either happens, or the light of the day unceremoniously just turns dark.
