Donald Ray Corey | Eastern NC Now

    Donald Ray "Known as Shorty" Corey, age 83, a resident of Washington, died Thursday, June 5, 2025, at ECU Beaufort Hospital.

    A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Noon, at Snowd Branch Church of God with Pastor Kevin Whaley officiating.

    The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

    Donald was born on July 4, 1941, in Beaufort County, to the late Robert and Beatrice Lewis Corey. He attended school at Old Ford. Donald worked at Flanders Filters and later at Piggly Wiggly. Donald loved taking road trips and picking up pecans. He loved his family and never met a stranger, he enjoyed talking to everyone. Donald attended Snowd Branch Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by, sisters, Thelma Corey Beacham, Jessie Corey Kelly and Jean Corey Alligood, brothers, James Earl Corey and Ira Corey, nephews, Mike and Steve Kelly.

    Survivors include his wife, Judy Anna Peele Corey of the home, son, Tony Corey of New York, nieces and nephews, Mack "Buddy" Alligood (Sheila), Jimmy Kelly (Alice), Amelia Davidson, Ernest Corey, Loretta Richardson, Pete Beacham, great nieces and nephews, Trey Alligood, Chad Alligood, Melissa Floreth, Bryan Kelly, Jamie Kelly, Brian Kelly and Markus Kelly.

    Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 222 Stewart Parkway, Suite 100
