Roger Ellis Tillman | Eastern NC Now

    Roger Ellis Tillman, 71, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 7, 2025.

    Born July 27, 1953, in Belhaven, North Carolina, to Charles Brantley Tillman Sr. and Estelle Ellis Tillman.

    Roger was a lifelong Tar Heel and passionate supporter of UNC sports. He worked in real estate and home building in Florida and was known for his kindness, humor, and love of dogs.

    He is survived by his brother, Brantley Tillman, and sister-in-law, Carol; nieces Kate Brown (Andre) and Elizabeth Robin (Phil); great-nieces Hazel, Estelle, and Neva; and great-nephew Aidan and many cousins.

    A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Belhaven Community Cemetery, Belhaven, North Carolina on Roger's 72nd birthday. Rev Tony Capehart, of Belhaven Missionary Church will officiate.

    After the service, visitation will be held at the home of his brother at 602 E. Water Street, Belhaven, North Carolina.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Eastern North Carolina or the Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina.

    Though his passing was sudden, Roger's life was rich with love, friendship, and loyalty. He will be remembered always with deep affection and gratitude.
