Donita Allen Hamilton, age 75, a resident of Washington, NC, died Sunday August 10, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 23, 2025 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be officiated by Ron Stuart and Phillip Alligood.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mrs. Hamilton was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on February 25, 1950 to the late John Allen and Lois Whealton Allen. Growing up, she loved horses, and her family's cross-country summer road trips from California to visit relatives in North Carolina. She was a 1968 graduate of Lakewood High School outside Denver, CO and furthered her education at Roanoke Bible College in Elizabeth City, NC. On May 26, 1972, she married the late John Richard Hamilton. Donita enjoyed gardening, crafting, sewing, and crocheting. Virtually everyone she knew has a blanket, stuffed animal, hat, or scarf she made for them, their children, or grandchildren. In her later years, she would make hats to donate to cancer patients anytime she had spare yarn laying around, which was most of the time. Donita was kind and generous. She was an avid reader and a science fiction fan. She loved her three grandsons dearly. Mrs. Hamilton was a longtime member of South Mills Church of Christ in South Mills, NC.

Survivors include her two sons, Richard Allen Hamilton and wife Sarah of San Antonio, TX, Thomas Benjamin Hamilton and wife Suzanne of Washington, NC; three grandchildren, Josiah Hamilton, Ewan Hamilton, Camden Hamilton; and a twin brother, Steve Allen and wife Candy of St. Helens, OR.

She is preceded in death by her husband John Richard Hamilton.

The family would like to thank the nurses, caregivers and staff of Ridgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center for the care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local church.

Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington is honored to serve the Hamilton family.
