Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     The current annual median wage of Dare County residents – those who are suffering without a Bonner Bridge to get to and from their homes, jobs and doctors – is $27,395 per year.

The total compensation of the executive director of the left-wing special interest group fighting construction of the new Bonner Bridge? $343,257.

Below is a joint statement from Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) and House Speaker Thom Tillis (R-Mecklenburg):

“While the lawyers at the Southern Environmental Law Center claim ‘concern and sympathy’ for the people of the Outer Banks, their actions speak far louder than words. These out-of-touch activists are blocking construction of the new Bonner Bridge as a fundraising tactic, thumbing their noses at the reasonable two-mile replacement contracted years ago to push for an outrageous 17-mile bridge that would cost taxpayers more than $1 billion. It’s disheartening to see them put lives and livelihoods at risk while paying themselves several times more than those who are suffering because of their frivolous lawsuits.”
