My vote is unprincipled.

Hence, Liberals should learn math, and learn to use it.

It is always up, it never comes down, The Home page is only one page. BCN is about 50,000 pages.

Reagan's gone. So quit complaining about the opposite of liberal.

So quit complaining about your taxes. They will be going up, so pay them, and shut up about it.

Liberals should love to pay taxes anyway. You should know that.

This is about the now, and it is about reality, and I don't care about your obsession with not prosecuting the War on Terror.

And really, Ronald Reagan was president over 26 year ago.

No jail then, right?

And how do you propose we get the 1.4 M already spent bacK?
Commented: Saturday, April 25th, 2015 @ 7:36 pm By: Stan Deatherage
Then, why do you support government that spends so much money?

Go back and read your posts and your comments.

You're my one unmitigated Liberal that contributes. I guard your position tenuously.

Thanks Gene for the compliment. This will be a very long series.

And just one more thing ... 'Drill baby drill'!

I told you this before, but it did not sink in because it is math, and Liberals don't do math very well.

If you lower the tax values by 30%, you then must raise the tax rate by 30%, so you have accomplished nothing.

Here's the link - beaufortcountynow.com - to what I did for an early re-valuation. You can follow the links or Search BCN for more information.

I restate, t no time would lowering the property valuation, to effect how much everyone pays en mass, would make any difference. Only prudent commissioners budgeting tax reserves and making good policy decisions can effect that.

In the last 20 1/2 years, Beaufort County has only two commissioners had the intelligence and the integrity to lead in that direction, but it is well proved that they were not listened to, and, therefore, could not lead.

All of what I write is the only truth here.

I don't doubt your prowess felling a tree. I am in your corner on that talent of yours.

But in governing a people, you can not spend more than you take in, lest you raise taxes. North Carolina and it's local governing bodies - county commissioners - must operate in the black, not the red. You, Liberals, will never understand that, and that is the simple math of it.
Commented: Friday, April 24th, 2015 @ 10:05 pm By: Stan Deatherage
... And the logic of using math.

You should consider it at some point.
Commented: Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 @ 1:54 pm By: Stan Deatherage
I am not your resource for terminology. There is an internet for finding mundane information.

And, also, you could be one of those folks that I speak of. Making nice will not keep taxes from going up. That is the history of it; but you would not know that. Would you?

You and your friends, who wag your tongues far too much, should learn math.

You want all this money spent, your taxes lower, and you want those who can actually do math, and make wise policy decisions to make nice with those who can't.

And when the Liberals raise the taxes, and make all the stupid decisions along the way to do so, it was mine and Hood's fault, even though the record shows that we consistently voted the right way to make government leaner and more responsive.

I get it. Also, what I get is that you and your friends need to learn to think much deeper on real issues, or suffer the government that they, and you deserve.

Look it up.

Actually, don't you think all this discussion about congeniality among commissioners is a bit shallow. The way I see it, it gives people who have no clue what local government does something to talk about, when, probably, they are the type of people who tend to talk far too much.

One should never let the wagging of their tongue outpace the working of their brain.

It is totally different.

No states use the vernacular of county council.

Thanks Ted,

Excellent or no, it will probably be a very long series. I have so many North Carolina images.
Commented: Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 @ 11:33 pm By: Stan Deatherage
First of all, it is the Beaufort County Commissioners; we are not council people.

Secondly, my behavior was always pitch perfect. Hood's approach to governing is his business. No one of real intelligence ever had any problems with my behavior.

Ask around. You'll see.
Commented: Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 @ 9:31 pm By: Stan Deatherage
Remarkably, you did hit on an acceptable stupidity, at least with the lower information community, that it is Hood's fault (and formerly was Stan's fault) for the egregiously bad decisions of other commissioners. Now, there is just Hood to blame for this stupidity of others, however acceptable as cocktail knowledge.

Fortunately, there are laws to shield the balance of the community from the acceptable stupidity of others, especially the electorate that elects these commissioners that would just do the opposite of Hood, and formerly Stan.

While stupidity can get you killed, it can also ruin a community once it becomes too ingrained in the governing of our People.

Gene, you'll never ever understand that there is difference between right and wrong, understanding simple math rather than not, bolstering relative truth over absolute truth. It is a condition of the Squishy Middle.
Commented: Monday, April 20th, 2015 @ 9:02 am By: Stan Deatherage
Clifton, I pray that some good will come of this.

Gene, you need to re-read what you write, and re-read it carefully, and maybe then you will stop misidentifying yourself.

You despise conservatives, therefore, you cant' be one too. It's simply that simple.
Commented: Sunday, April 19th, 2015 @ 9:11 pm By: Stan Deatherage
I wouldn't know. Never spent any time in the Squishy Middle.

BCN is no more a Conservative publication than the Washington Daily News is Liberal, actually, we are less dictum oriented than their publication, any local publication in this region for that matter.

BCN allows all opinions on BCN, all news, all events from the community; we dont pick and choose the published and the unpublished, unless the presentation is terrible, and even then I will try to work with folks providing that they are completely open to it.

In fact, more than 55% of all our traffic is art, trvel and consumer leisure, community events related. This far exceeds anyone else in this region, and these are not political issues ... if they are, I did get the memo.

If I write about politics, government, I speak Conservative truth because it is my estimable experience that this works in governing people. My principles expressed are as our Founders truly intended us to be governed, and to whatever extent I may be wrong, I am 7 fold more right in real terms.

The truth of this is real: Liberals have a tough time reconciling reality and their utopian ideals. The real truth is that Liberals make a mess of things, always have, always will, and leave it to the adults to correct. When we do, it works for them for a while, and then the whining starts, the subterfuge, and once again, their politicians make a mess of things.

Its just the way it is.
Commented: Sunday, April 19th, 2015 @ 4:10 pm By: Stan Deatherage
Why is it that Liberals, such as yourself, concern yourselves so much with the personalities of others rather than the principle of the matter.

You Liberals have this intuitive construct where the wrongs of things is Okay if perpetuated by you, and let the right of it be damned.

Some of us deal with what is right because we know what is right, irrespective of any exogenous factors - even The Hood.

Yeah, but how distant from the intent of the Open Meetings Law does one have to be to win in court?

As it stands, this is not only a huge political issue for the commissioners, this is a government procedural issue that, left untended, will turn into something far worse.

The main problem with their skirting around the edges of this NC law is the subject of this matter - the appointment of your top county employee. Beaufort County is a County Manager Form of Government, which well portends how important it is to not have even the slightest shred of impropriety in evaluating and appointing a new manager.

That is certainly not the case here: They 'screwed the pooch' massively on this one.

None of this improper behavior existed when we hired Randell; in fact every commissioner had the opportunity to interview every applicant that was considered upper tier. I have even interview Brian Alligood myself a few years back.

I have to wonder if I would have had the opportunity to be that involved this time around.

Which is to do what?
Commented: Saturday, April 18th, 2015 @ 3:43 pm By: Stan Deatherage
I pray that the House Republicans also realize that they are a renewable resource as well.
Commented: Saturday, April 18th, 2015 @ 2:41 pm By: Stan Deatherage
Remarkably, there appears to be a meeting to announce the hiring of the new county manager on Monday morning. Beaufort County NOW, while it is true that we have a long standing request that we be notified of all county meetings, was not notified of the Monday meeting, yet on many days, in the last few months, we are by far the largest media resource in Beaufort County.

This is no way to represent the public's government to the People.
