I thought I had uncovered a drug ring operating in the neighborhood. A suspicious van was parked in the main parking lot and the old people were lining up to get a fix. After further investigation, I determined it was a seminar on how to spend your social security check without leaving the 'HOOD'.

Alex, I went back to review the exchange between Obama and McCain. Here is an excerpt to refresh the readers memory. While I doubt that anyone can deny John's courage in the face of the enemy, his politics are decidedly middle of the road and perhaps why he and Romney did not excite the "silent majority" in all but New York and California. Donald Trump apparently has changed all that. Here is the clip:

Diane, Thanks for this legal and historical version of "The Rest of the Story." If I ever learned this in school, I had forgotten the details. It seems we have matured or regressed into "I've got mine, to hell with the rest of you" where everyone is gaming the system instead of standing on principal.

Here is one last clip of Buddy at 85 in 2012. It is an interview where he talks about the old Rat Pak days. He was pehaps the last survivor of those days (along with Paul Anka). Married five times and recorded over 75 albums.

I did not include this short clip in the above article but it does reinforce the musical talents of Buddy Greco. The time is 1963, the film is black and white, the venue is The Ed Sullivan Show and the talent is all Buddy Greco. The verbiage is also a great bio of this remarkable musician. The video is only 1:47 long, but it shows a master craftsmanship of a man and his 88 keys. During my short two years of piano lessons, I could never find the right combination of any 10 keys (only 10 fingers). Please excuse the technical sync flaws of this old film.

Commented on When did I actually become a Klutz?I know a bar owner who always responds to a request for one on the house from a loyal customer with "I already bought that drink once, do you want me to buy it again?"
Another is the old country boy who says he lives on 2% profit. "I buy it for $1 and sell it for $2. That 2% is all that keeps me in this business." I am sure you have plenty of stories. The retail business is one of the most misunderstood businesses by the average guy. It is even worse now that profit is a bad word.

I'm not sure why the General's passing has affected me so deeply. Perhaps it is just the reminder of past comrades. In any event here is a link to the ceremony. I do not know how long this will be up on Youtube but felt it worthy to document the article with this final note. I have set it to start with the final salute. As of this posting it has had 238 views. That in and of itself is a sad commentary to me.

I agree Stan, the leaker and the recipient should both be subject to prosecution when the recipient passes on the information leaked (if the info is classified). While it may be a Gordian Knot, something needs to be done to stop the hemorrhaging of information without attribution.
Unfortunately, leaking has become the fifth leg in governing used by both sides when they cannot accomplish their goals through normal means: 1 Congress, 2 Executive, 3 Judicial, 4 Press, 5 Leaks. While, it may not be possible to determine who actually leaked maybe they should resort to the Canary_Trap that is used in very serious security documents. Embedding codes in metadata is also a way of tracking who had what.Technology has advanced to the point that almost everything can be tracked. While there is no doubt we have a 'right' to privacy, there is no actual privacy left. To paraphrase a line from an old Paul Newman movie. "A leak, you call that a leak? The last time we had a leak this big ole Noah built himself a boat." en.wikipedia.org

By the time I got there in 1968 most of the Officers were barely older than me (23). Also due to the rotation by individuals, there was not the unit cohesion that the units that went over together had.
One of my Platoon Lieutenants was only 25 but he was a super leader. We also had a few f-ups. My company commander was 31 years old in 1968 and he was a good leader as well. He went on to retire as Colonel and passed in 2012 at the age of 74.

Chuck Schumer is a laughable joke as a policy maker. For years, I have watched his theatrics with amusement. While I appreciate showmanship and drama, I also expect results. Trump is also a theatrical showman but he is also a results oriented executive. I agree that optics do matter in politics, but results matter more. Increasingly all we have these days are photo opps or image control. Both sides are guilty of too much showmanship and too little action. President Trump seems to be able to handle both, which I guess makes him producer as well as a entertainer. How refreshing.
Since the retirement of Harry Reid, I have been amused by Senator Schumer's elevation from understudy to lead player in the Democratic Party road show. The first version of this Video (cried like a baby link above) I saw shows him as Director Schumer just before his speech began. As the director, he instructs the bit players where to stand and set the stage before he begins his performance. That tells me more about the politics than the actual policy he seems to be fighting. Click below to Watch the first part or click on the cried like a baby link in the article to see what I mean. beaufortcountynow.com Jack Lemmon, the comedic actor, always had a saying before he started a scene. He would pause, take a deep breath and say "It's magic time." He knew it was an imaginary performance and wanted to make it as real as possible. www.cemeteryguide.com/lemmon.html Schumer is no Jack Lemmon. My reference to Mohel and Bris was intentional to illustrate the point in the first two paragraphs. Some would interpret the reference as Anti-Semitic and perhaps it would offend even my wife who is Jewish. My reason for using the reference is not to draw attention to the fact that Chuck Schumer is Jewish, It is to illustrate his total phoniest by trotting out Arab bit players to enhance his tearful performance. My wife would not doubt not approve of the reference, but not to the point that she would want to kill me; She has plenty of other reasons for that. Years ago criticism of a particular philosophy or exercise of freedom of speech was considered a right. I am not so sure anymore.

If I 'SAY' something that makes someone so mad THEY want to kill me, then I don't have a problem. THEY DO. That is until THEY start to act on THEIR anger, then WE both have a problem. This crap about the Muslims getting so upset by something that we say that they join JIHAD or want to kill INFIDELS, only illustrates the leap of faulty logic that the Liberals, some Republicans, and Media keep pushing.
The media seems intent on misrepresenting what is actually written in the executive orders and the actual legal context and basis for the order. For that reason I have resorted to my old habit of actually reading the orders from the White House Site rather than getting the media summary. The rest is just political theatrics for fund raising and create opposition to the current administration. I would suspect that the last time Senator Chuck Schumer actually really shed a tear was the last time he had an encounter with a Mohel at a Bris.

Commented on Why are most comedians LiberalIn the 1970 Steve played at the Great Southeast Music Hall in Atlanta before he became famous.
"Steve Martin and Martin Mull performed on same bill for a week at a time - twice as I recall. We called it "The Steve Martin Mull Revue". They were equally popular at the time, so they traded off who opened and who was the headliner on any given night. We thought it was good at the time but in retrospect it was a whole lot better than good. I remember being there and each of them dividing the audience up and they took us all outside for tug of war. I was on Team Mull. It was a draw. We just drug each other around in the parking lot laughing our asses off. On another occasion after the first set both came out together and the crowd had thinned out and either Steve Or Martin said "Hell, this crowd is too small, lets go bowling. The whole crowd went to the bowling alley next door." (Documented on the Great Southeast Music hall Facebook Site) beaufortcountynow.com

Thanks Stan for the Plausible Denial endorsement of this rant.
Is possible that Donald Trump uses his tweets and off the cuff pronouncements just to get the subject in the mainstream debate, given his knowledge that everything he says will be dissected in the media ad nauseam? He has now brought the shooting deaths in Chicago to the table which is more than Rham or Barack did. Surely he is not that smart!

I have been presently surprised by the people that Donald Trump has chosen for his cabinet and team. Competence and Experience in getting results is what most people seem to think they want in their team until they find out that they may have some differences of opinion. While I remain cautiously optimistic, it appears that we may actually be seeing the C&E mantra fulfilled. As an quick aside, I see on TV where the hearings on Rex W. Tillerson have began. One of the first speakers in his favor is former Senator Sam Nunn (D). That is all I need to know. Sam is one of the principled Democrats that I have supported multiple times. I can now watch replays of the Golden Globes to see who lost.

Not all actors are of the same opinion. Here is a quote from Kurt Russell about Actor opinions, followed by his appearance on the View where he explains the fantasy world of Hollywood. Both are worth the read and the watching.
“This is a business that’s heavily promulgated by people who have a politically liberal bent . . . I don’t begrudge them that. I’m a libertarian; frankly, I think my liberalness goes far beyond theirs in a lot of ways. But yeah, we think differently, and maybe that’s cut me out of some things. I don’t care. People know I get along great with all kinds of directors, all kinds of actors. And I tell you, you hire me, I will show up, 24/7, and I will give you 100%. I will help you fix whatever problems come up. You hire me, I’m your boy. It’s just, it’s all about the work. And when that’s done, I am done.” beaufortcountynow.com

I agree, as John points out in the video, there is no privacy anymore. The fake news is the political class of both sides using one fact to create a scenario of Fake News. It is a given that both the Russians, USA and almost every other country is actively hacking each other. Using one true statement to form a complete narrative is the classic technique as in the big "R" word.
