"Red Dawn," which I consider a minor classic, did not have to be remade.

The Chinese are definitely an economic threat, but no where near a military threat. They already own us anyway. Why occupy us?

Charles, you said it: Atlas is shrugging right now.

I am writing a piece right now on how all Democrats, their electorate and politicians, who are actually responsible for "Altas Shrugging."

It is playing out right now, in real time, and fortunately, this time, I may have the assets to make a difference for we who are patriots.

Of course, at some point, the Democrat fascists could always just shut down the internet. But until they do ...

The Obamanite period will be all about "Bait and Switch," with a constituency too stupid to know the difference.

The "useful idiots" will play their role, and hopefully there will be another "Reaganite" period of renewal so that the ship can be righted once again.

What we need is a president and a congress strong enough to stop all the free stuff that bought the majority of Candidate Obama's votes so that the Obamanite period could thrive until the nation is utterly insolvent.

Maybe the next period will be the Atlas Shruggednite period.

"Reaganite Entertainment" - never heard this before.

Do you reckon this under-known term was originated by some Liberal on a college campus or news desk somewhere in America, or abroad?

This just sent to me from a third party, sent to them from "Ambassador" Al Klemm, explaining his latest RINO transgression:

Ambassador Kemm - "Jerry Langley was returned as Chairman and Al Klemm was elected Vice Chairman. Jerry has done a good job the last two years of running the meetings in a professional manner, maintaining control while allowing all commissioners to fully voice their opinions and keeps the meeting moving while getting the work completed. I'm honored to be vice chairman but my main role as commissioner is to pay attention, listen, state my position and respond when needed. I have no desire to be chairman. I do not want to run a meeting and do the things I normally do at the same time. As vice chairman, I may have to do that due to circumstances that may occur. All commissioners get one vote whether they are chairman or vice chairman. How the Board of Commissioners meetings are presented to the public and visitors are of upmost importance to me. Over the years, I have received negative comments concerning the Board of Commissioners meetings. I believe all commissioners should be ambassadors for their community. It is possible to present your views and be professional at the same time."

Well said. They are much worse than Democrats. Democrats wear their Democrat skin, and you know who they are, and you deal with that. I actually get along with reasonable Democrat politicians.

The RINO lies in wait to feather their own nest, or the nest of their special interest masters.

What Larry Britt does not realize is that it took quite a bit of political courage for Hood and I to vote for a Democrat for chairman over a proven RINO (Republican in Name Only) Jay McRoy, because it was not common knowledge at that time that Commissioner McRoy was actually a Democrat, but cloaked in the brand of Republican. We did this to break up his mult-year, and infamous, stranglehold on his "King Chairmanship: position, which was becoming increasing destructive to the viability of Beaufort County government.

Now, with all that has been categorically divulged; no one with a full working brain would ever consider making any argument that Jay McRoy was ever a real Republican ... ever.

Al Klemm has proven, repeatedly, to now be walking well in those same Jay McRoy footsteps, and now, no one else, with a full working brain, will endeavor to make the argument that Al Klemm's decisions as a politician would qualify the County Commissioner for inclusion as a functional Republican at any point on the Republican spectrum of Conservative principles.

If they would like to attempt to make that argument, we would be more than happy to supply them all the space necessary here at BCN.

We have a tremendous amount of traffic, and accordingly, those comments would be well noticed by our growing public.

It was never intended by our forefathers that those, who have elected to take no advantage of our free education system, and choose to live off of the free stuff long provided by Democrat politicians in return for their vote, to, in fact, have that right to vote.

Brant hit the nail square on the head on this issue: Mayor Pat McCrory desperately needs to upgrade his media relations.

Should Mayor McCroy win the governor's race, it will be because this is a Republican election cycle in North Carolina, and he is running against Walter Dalton.

We, at BCN, have received few, if any, press releases from McCrory's press team, while newcomer and relatively unknown, untried candidate for Lt. Governor, Dan Forest, has sent us many.

I wager that the candidate for Lt. Governor gets more votes than the twice-run governor candidate here in Beaufort County.

We'll just have to see about that.

I agree, there would probably be no agreement struck with an Obama/Holder Justice Department.

What an incredible waste of time and county funds to enjoin a challenge now.

On preferential voting, we may have but under a different vernacular.

We spent quite a few days on this and it was about 9 years ago.

The 5 at large, with 2 minority districts is my favorite that we drew, and I am happy that Hood approves.

That plan would allow two extra votes for the electorate every 4 years, providing the electorate the optimum sense of representation through voter participation. The problem in this plan is the eastern minority district which would have to jump the Pamlico, bridging Belhaven with Aurora minorities.

The worst plan is the 7 district plan.

Does one really want even more co-opted county commissioners than we have right now? Some of these guys are so managed by others, I often wonder which personality is in control.

As a 16 year Beaufort County Commissioner, I have always opposed Limited Voting, but I make this long held assertion with the tempered understanding that there is little we can do until we find a better system that will pass Federal Justice pre-clearance.

It sounds confusing, and it is very much so, but the system of the current limited Voting can be changed, but only if there is the will of a majority of county commissioners simultaneous with the will of the U.S. Justice Department. This is the God's truth.

I, for one, will not opt for a poorer system just for the sake of change, and to oblige others of a much lesser knowledge of this complicated conundrum.

Hood Richardson will not either.

I was at the Candidate's Forum, and no candidate had any rudimentary knowledge of what a proper election system would entail, save Hood, and to a lesser extent Gerry Langley. Dondi Dixon, if elected, would be a quick study in such.

I know all of this because I have been at the nexus of this ongoing argument as committee chairman to evaluate the current system, and to plan the prospect of another. Incidentally, Steve Rader and I drew what alternative maps that have been drawn suggesting alternative systems, and they are stored at the Beaufort County Board of Elections, complete the then current social dichotomy of the Beaufort County electorate.

Yes, and I do wince and cringe when I hear prospective county commissioners speak on any subject when they have not taken the time to gain any understanding such. In particular on Limited Voting, I was kind'a embarrassed for them.

Candidates often say the darndest things in their quest for elected office. Candidate Gary Brinn may have set a new low in his misunderstanding of this one issue.

I'm not sure that this type of discussion qualifies for a closed session.

It is a public sale not controlled by the city, and the party selling the property is of public knowledge already.

Moreover, if there is any third party involvement, it is the responsibility of the government to divulge such.

Solyndra: The money came from the Obama administration, even though they were under bankruptcy watch.

The Solyndra beneficiaries were Democrat contributors, not Republican. Follow the money.

Those are the facts.

Furthermore, one does not need to make multiple points that have little relative basis in facts, if you have the truth on your side.

It's call Core values.

Michael, you got your answer; I just did not understand your series of rants as anything cogent. Try stating the alleged lies more like this:

Candidate Obama stated that he would have the most transparent government in history, free of special interest, yet when he came to office, he brought a cadre of lobbyists as key staff, and turned the record stimulus package into a slush fund for Democrats - most notable was Solyndra that was in the process of going bankrupt as Obama lavished these Democrats with a half of a billion of the public's dollars, now the public's debt.

Try being more succinct and much more substantive like this one truth, I expressed, as one of the multitudes of Obama Lies.

Yes it was a thing of beauty to see Governor Romney able to answer questions, and not have them manipulated by the obvious "media stooges," who are still influential, but not with us who know the real world and the wiser path forward.

Considering the time limits, it might have been wise for "the Candidate" to keep his exposure as low as possible, by not fighting for the broadcast air, since his intellect, at least this night, seemed a bit flaccid.

The main reason Candidate Obama is covering up the cause and effect of this nasty event in Libya is that he has, by his words, non-words (won't mention terrorism) and deeds, declared the War on Terror won by his various apology tours and the singular event of giving the order to kill Bin laden.

Now that al Qaeda is alive and well, and creating havoc throughout the Middle East, the Candidate's one singular foreign policy initiative of dispatching al Qaeda is a no longer true.

Commented on Peace in Our Time

This may be one of the great lessons of our time.

Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, was a Conservative and a very able prime minister, who did not wish to go to war. No wise leader wants to invite war on their people, or on their conscience.

So Neville Chamberlain seized on the first opportunity to delay war for Great Britain, if not for eastern Europe at the Munich Accords.

Candidate Obama has a similar back ground in that wishes not to go to war. He is no Conservative, he is a Liberal, but rather than not delving into war because of humanitarian reasons, he does not consider war because of his core constituency and his roots growing up, at least in part, Muslim.

There is one thing that he did do before he diminished our presence in the Middle East, as he has surely done. Candidate Obama used the infrastructure built, in the Middle East, by the George W. Bush Administration to give the order for Seal Team 6 to kill Osama Bin Laden. After the demise of America's #1 target, Candidate Obama left the informant doctor to rot in a prison in Pakistan, and then "spiked the Football" that he killed Osama Bin Laden, went on a "I killed Osama" tour to taunt this as his sole Middle East foreign policy initiative and accomplishment, and then distilled this event information into terms that even Liberals could understand, so he wouldn't have to run on his miserable economic record - a record of just giving stuff away to likely voters.

Now that the Middle East is blowing up, he is proving powerless to effect anything positive; however, the Candidate still stands a good chance of getting re-elected because he gives away a lot of free stuff to likely voters, that others pay for, or face imprisonment for tax evasion.

Maybe this Frenchman said it best:

"A democratic government is the only one in which those who vote for a tax can escape the obligation to pay it" - Alexis de Tocqueville, 19th century

Did I leave anything out here?

The Don,

Even a man such as myself has some limits.

Even then, I wouldn't have expect for the government to have paid for it.

Maybe someone could have "passed the hat."

What am I talking about, I was 19 years old, and the early seventies on a North Carolina campus was like the sixties everywhere else.

So, I plead ignorance then, and I thank God, I married the right, no, perfect woman in 1978.

I have to wonder, at 31 years old: What's Sandra Fluke's excuse?
