The political establishment -- and the state political media -- are coming around to the realization that, barring the discovery of a dead girl or a live boy in the McCrory residence, Mayor Pat will be getting a promotion at the end of the year.

Brant hit the nail square on the head on this issue: Mayor Pat McCrory desperately needs to upgrade his media relations.

Should Mayor McCroy win the governor's race, it will be because this is a Republican election cycle in North Carolina, and he is running against Walter Dalton.

We, at BCN, have received few, if any, press releases from McCrory's press team, while newcomer and relatively unknown, untried candidate for Lt. Governor, Dan Forest, has sent us many.

I wager that the candidate for Lt. Governor gets more votes than the twice-run governor candidate here in Beaufort County.

We'll just have to see about that.
