This week of watching the Republican National Convention, I have had a guilty pleasure of switching between Fox and MSNBC, if only for the humor.

After spending a bit of time with the MSNBC, I am amazed that these guys are allowed to be on TV to talk about anything.

It is almost like the fake news shows, but obviously their audience, albeit very small, must somehow feel intellectually fulfilled.

Yeah, it's a bit scary; however, let's look at it on the bright side: They are unremarkably funny.

If only Chris Mathews could lose that Obama tingle up his leg (it's still there), and Ed Shchultz could lose that whole misogynist thing, and if Rachel Maddow could find another issue that she could understand beyond the one, and Reverend Al Sharpton ... two words - Tawana Brawley - they might convince someone that is not already in their tank: swimming, feeding, going with the flow, understanding the school (of mindless fish) - their school of "in-the-box" thought, so as to embrace a portion of their dictum.

Clint has spoken and Rachel Maddow proclaimed, "If I live to be a hundred, I don't think I will ever see anything as bizarre as that."

I suppose Rachel never had a grandfather, who spoke his mind.

I have always dug old guys who speak their minds if ... and this is a big if ... if their hearts were in the right place.

Clint Eastwood's heart is in that right place, and I have always dug Clint - love his films.

If there is indeed a problem - the IRS will take him down, and will take him down hard as is their nature, especially for Candidate Obama because of his special purpose to swell their ranks (the IRS).

Then there is the diversionary tactic of Candidate Obama, and his minions, to talk about anything but the Candidate's miserable record.

The tax return issue is textbook tactics for Liberals.

I don't blame Romney for raising the dialogue of this election, after Mr. Hope and Change Candidate Obama put his candidacy in the gutter, where he, and his Chicago sycophants love to play.

It's a fair suggestion.

And it is true, I am biased. Then again, I always am when it comes to politics; however, it is not always about party ... I just like Mike in this instance, and I have for a while.

Often, and the record shows this, I most unkind to Republicans when they don't know how to act or how to vote. More is expected of Republicans and that is just the way it is going to be. This will not ever change.

I will remove the offending phrase.

We're glad to provide the space for people like yourself to make comments, and obviously, it is good that you have outlets like BCN, because that information that you supplied is not getting out there.

As far as BCN being a journalistic entity - we're not. We just own and supply a superior informational delivery system than most people are acquainted with.

That's what we do, and we have a dwindling peer group.

This is all very true, and this is why the state Republican party and all its associated groups will not be successful, even if they win on the good years.

They think the party is top down rather than bottom up, which is the way it should be if they truly want to be successful.

It was never my intention to be this popular, especially with a Socialist.

I guess this is what I get for being such a kind and considerate person, and always reaching out warmly to all people, most especially Liberals and Socialists alike.

Michael,

Since you are so prolifically expressive about your views, why don't you consider writing a column for BCN.

In the past, I have picked bylines for contributors, who would rather that the publisher pick their byline. I generally read what their expressed motives are, and accordingly, I choose a byline that best suits their political / philosophical bent to best categorize their opinions.

If you do decide to contribute posts, and you don't want to pick your byline, I have a few, and very humble, ideas. How about:

"All About Stan," or ...

"Just Exactly, What I Really Feel About Stan," or ...

To have a more dynamic, and interactive exchange with your readers: How about?

"Enough About What I'm Really Concerned About ... Readers Tell Me What Concerns You ... But First: What Do You Feel About Stan?"

It's all here in Beaufort County Now - even your comments.

So ... I guess that would make us Socialist propagandists as well.

Right?

As someone who works over 70 hours a week, I absolutely do not have the time to try to understand, let alone celebrate, the whole Occupy Wall Street, "we're the 99%, you're the 1%," YEAH socialism! mentality.

Sorry. Maybe that is why I so ably see through the whole "Cool Concept" as a reason to support an idea, an individual.

Mitt Romney has had quite a few real jobs unlike Candidate Obama, who has only lied his way through life.

And you voted for him. Very sad.

Alicia Colon well explains the meaning of the preservation of our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. It never was about hunting, and I'll never understand why Liberals cannot understand this simple precept.

Mr. Webb, I do believe that we are kindred spirits - we, who ask for nothing more than a "fair shake" at a reasonable stake.

This week, the endless candidate tried to walk back his unfortunate remarks about we who create something tangible and beneficial, rather than seek a willing host. It ain't working, and it just makes him seem like even more of a totally disingenuous ... uh ... candidate.

The endless candidate let us know, rather succinctly, how he feels about those of us who pay the price to succeed ... or fail.

Diane, the 1930s?

That means your grandparents were seeking to escape the fascist Benito Mussolini.

Does that make you a second generation American, or is the vernacular Italian/American? I do not mean to offend.

To Michael Varin on his last comment under "Nullify Now!!"

No, Children are grown.

Just spending a tremendous amount of time "building the better mousetrap."

Oh wait a minute, Candidate Obama just reminded me, "I didn't build that ... somebody else made that happen."

But hold on, I know, but ... well ... it could not have been ACORN, they were busy using federal dollars to elect the Barack, it wasn't Solyndra, and all the other the other well-healed members of that enlarged Democrat slush fund, know as the America Recovery Act, and it could not have been the president.

When did Candidate Obama have time to help? For the last year, he has been on his "Two Americas Tour," and when he was not consumed with that, he was in Pakistan leading Seal Team 6 on their courageous mission to slay Osama Bin Laden.

Who could have built Symbiotic Publisher, and then the NOWs?

Oh ... silly me. It was me after all.

Do you want to know what my "Two Americas Tour" is? It is about the hardworking, smart, wise Americans, survivors against all else. And then there are those that support Candidate Obama: the takers, the whiners, the guilt ridden cry babies, and ultimately, the losers.

That's my two Americas.

Commented on NULLIFY NOW !!

On your receiving responses of the caliber of Diane: Don't have the time.

Anyway, that's why I have Diane.

On matters of free men engaging in free markets, I always defer to Diane, unless I want to say it quickly, like now - Obama is a Communist Wannabe, and he should count his days in office, because they have a finite end, and the end will be soon.

Zinger there Alicia. That was one hot pitch.

And that is the crux of the matter: The non producers living off the producers, and when times get a bit too tough, they often exude the anger of a petulant child.

And the true Hell of it all is that we have our really tough days all lined up in a row just a few scant years ahead, maybe sooner.

I do wonder what will the OWS children gnash their petulant teeth on then?

Socialism in a government and in an individual is pretty easy to spot.

Obviously, George Orwell's "Animal Farm" and "1984" honed my suspicious paranoia about the creep of Fascist Socialism into our American society.

Decades ago, back when I was an intellectually blind Liberal, I now credit these two classics in helping to restrain me from falling into the abyss of "group-think," which is the grand cliche of Liberal wisdom.

Great article Alicia, and thank-you your permission to publish.

Actually, this whole mess smells of price fixing (Sherman Anti-trust), through and by ancillary means (using the General Assembly), which if done knowingly is possibly illegal.

Why would anyone, at anytime, in the General Assembly be a party to this form of legislation?

Ditto Betty,

It is remarkable how much we think alike.

It is also remarkable how we have both been leaders of our Beaufort County political parties: You with the Democrats and me with the Republicans.
Commented: Sunday, July 15th, 2012 @ 9:46 am By: Stan Deatherage
Thanks for the sentiment Raphael, but I don't think I have the "right stuff" either, which would be the money.

Here in eastern North Carolina, the big money boys will only give money to politician's, who will sell off their people's government, and whatever integrity the politician had when they started. There are plenty of good ole boys, who don't understand that you better start electing smarter people to serve with integrity - not less - and soon.

I have been watching this for decades now, and it is apparently not getting any better, but fortunately, not getting any worse.

There is one change; however, the internet, and the Tea Party.

The internet has the power to educate, and the Tea Party is a vessell for the good grass roots folks, who, at times to people like me, seem a bit naive or under educated on some issues, but they are good people, with good intentions, and they are eventually getting it right.

And you know something, they are getting smarter, and I do believe they will stay true to their hard won wisdom.

Right now for me: The internet to educate and inform, and the folks in the Tea Party - because of their devotion and their inspiration - may be America's greatest hope.

I'm counting on it.

Walter Jones was supposed to do as he agreed to do, long ago, and submit to voluntary term limits as per the "Contract with America."

Career politicians bring few new good ideas to the dais, and Walter is no different.

I feel like it is time for myself to take another voluntary retirement from the county commission in 2014. I took a two-year hiatus in 2002.

There is one caveat; however, to me stepping down: I promised Hood that we would find someone who had enough political and intellectual backbone to stand up to the special interests group that would sell off the people's government bit by bit.

We both know those qualities when we see them, and neither of us are easily impressed. The fire does get rather hot at its core.

As a relative point of interest, a Walter Jones would not have that "right stuff" that Hood or I are seeking for the Beaufort County Commission.

It's remarkable how a 9 term Republican congressman, and a 5 term Democrat NC Senator does not measure up to the Hood / Stan vision of a politician who could stand tall enough to weather local Beaufort County politics.

I quit supporting Walter long ago, when he reneged on his agreement with the "Contract with America." One's word should be their bond, especially for a politician in our representative form of government.
Commented: Saturday, July 14th, 2012 @ 9:54 am By: Stan Deatherage
You know, I quit supporting Walter in primaries after he broke his self-obligation to term limits.

I get really creeped out by politicians who cannot be genuine about their solemn promises, their agreements with others.

Actually, I don't tolerate anyone who lies. They can be dangerous people with lives on the line, or money on the table.

When you get older time is special, and liars just tend to waste everyone's time they come into contact with.

So, I am certainly not about to vote for a politician, who will not rise above this manner of behavior.

The philosophical vagaries of the Democratic mind, while in the process of trying to mend the matter at hand.

Rather Kerryesque, me thinks.

If Richard Morgan ends up representing the Republican Party in November, then the RINO sentiment in the GOP will too great for the NC GOP will be able to survive.

I do appreciate how you do state the obvious; however, may well be forgotten by good, decent people.

Years before Jim Black was sent to federal prison, Arthur stated at a local fundraiser, "I'm Jim Black's Man."

Obviously, back then, Arthur rather enjoyed being a Democrat.
