These are tremulous times with the sorry level of intellect prevalent in Washington, DC, dominated by the Democratic Socialists, and the "bipartisan" Republicans, so fulsomely in the minority if one counts the bureaucracy at large that these poor Republicans somehow revere.
With this kind of deficit spending so available for all the wrong reasons to all the wrong people, one must always be cognizant of the over-paid, under-worked Democratic Socialist hired help. One thing is for sure the 18 Republicans that crossed the line to do the unthinkable, they are listing into the category of the grossly unaware.

Many of the Republicans of that day were rather unremarkable, excepting President William McKinley (a smart /competent president), who was shot dead; however, Roosevelt would have never been president if the then Republican had not dislike him as they did, which made for a most serendipitous presidency ... You know the ironic story here. His largest political mistake was promising to stand for only one election. The party that did not like him held him to that promise.

Getting the National Parks started and increasing the size of the US Navy, and using the navy worldwide was a bold move that initiated the pathway to the US Navy's dominance since WWII. Remember that Roosevelt left a cushy job in Washington, DC to fight in a consequential war, that would have had even greater effect on the predominance of the USA had we had the forethought to annex Cuba after Spain was finally tossed from this hemisphere. Plus, Roosevelt was smart, and he was a Cowboy, which is very cool.

I have been a Beaufort County Commissioner for 22 years, and now in my 7th term, but what do I know about high level Washington, DC Swamp Politics /Governing?
Well, I know this: All Republicans that voted for this legislative abomination have no future in ever running for president, or their state's governorship, for they will never win this evolving Republican Party's nomination. I may be a low level politician, here in Beaufort County, but, I am an optimist, and this I know, the Republican Party Elitists cease their Establishment love of Swamp Politics or die on the political vine a certain death.

In explanation of the one time that Hood Richardson /Stan Deatherage caucused with the Democrat commissioners, snaring them away from the "Secret Sleeper" Jay McRoy Center-Left coalition for just that one year, for what turned out to be the most convenient path to SAVE the county from its stupidest position it has taken in modern times (and history bears this out to be true), it is recounted here below:
In defense of Hood and I doing it the one time, it was to save the Beaufort County Hospital, and the powers against us were just too large, too dedicated to the Elitist position. Even though Hood and Stan endeavored such an exogenous position for ONE YEAR, we worked for the regular folks, which should always be the Conservative position. Once again, in the final analysis, Hood /Stan were inarguably Right. Frankie, on the other hand, has always done the bidding of the Elitist position, and is almost never right in these Center-Left special interest positions. And yes, Hood and Stan would never take that position again. We would have to figure a way to save the real People of Beaufort County some other way.

It has immediately come to my attention, yet again, to remind Eastern North Carolina NOW's readers that the Babylon Bee is strictly satire; in other words, it is meant to be humorous.
Some of you are not getting that, so I make mention of The Babylon Bee's purpose for your benefit. In the case of Kamala Harris, the humor is that she made it a political chore to prosecute hard marijuana users when she was AG in California, now she brags about smoking it ... it is called hypocrisy, and mixed with great satire, some of us find it funny. There is no reforming the Beaufort County Commissioners if Commissioner Hood Richardson is not re-elected. I can not do it alone, and Hood and I can not do it unless more real Conservatives are elected in a sufficient quantity to form a real majority of Real Republicans.
