In the shadow of the political assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning USA, a stain now exists upon our nation's collective conscious, a condition that must be excised, or our nation will not function properly as one of a self-governed people. Understanding these long standing truths: What would you suggest as a quick, and, or proper corrective measure?

20% Destroy the Fascist Donald Trump and all of MAGA, because America must never be Great Again.

80% Our self-governed people, and their properly restored institutions, under President Trump, must discover the root causes to properly correct, and save our Constitutional Republic.

It is a shame in this day and age that individuals can be so self-centered. Never in my 82 years have I seen such self-absorption with individuals. The part the gets to me the most is that the citizens have no input whatsoever. Most of you know of my military service but let me say that in no way would I want to be in a shootout with these folks at my side.

I have been asking the question " How does an enlisted people" respond to an "officer people" when given an order? You can no longer say "yes sir or no sir" and I expect you would be drawn and quartered for saying "yes mam or no mam.

Again I attended Washington's Memorial Day service and again the DAV and others did a great job. This year the sound was better and I want to thank the Vietnam Vet that handed out cold bottles of water to those who asked. In that heat it was a necessary need.

Again and again we see the senior military leaders thinking politically instead of their primary responsibility which is Militarily. Our last real military leader was Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf. When I retired after 24 years I had a total of 14 decorations. Only two were for combat, the rest were what we called "atta boys". Number of years you were in the service, number of times you were a good boy, some were for being where they sent you at a particular time, one for going to a school, (which you needed to do to get promoted) you get the picture. I agree whole heartedly with the writers position.

And it only gets worse. Now we have 12 more soldiers sacrificed, this time not for freedom but for an incompetent President. I won't even talk about the "woke" general staff, they are the incompetent losers brought in by Obama. They are more concerned with forcing the woke agenda on all of the military academies. I have to say that for the first time in my life I am ashamed of my President and his military leaders. I will not be surprised when one of those US military aircraft leaving the airport at Kabul is shot down. They know there will be no response from our feckless President.

I attended Beaufort County's Memorial Day service this morning and want to give the DAV kudos for an outstanding service. It was by far the best I have seen locally for quite some time. Unfortunately a big distraction was the sound system. Many of us could not make out what the speaker was saying. I don't know if they checked the system before hand or not but the sound was overdriving the speakers resulting in a very muffled voice of the speaker. Still all in all the planners did a great job of including Gold Star family members and reading the names of those lost from Beaufort County. Rep Keith Kidwell was in attendance and I thought he should have been allowed to say a few words.

Very well said Delma. But you are not alone, I too tried teaching but left when the students were not the primary goal. Even back in the early 80's there was a tendency, at least in the school I tried to teach in, to put attention on monitoring student activities outside the class and less on class participation or student performance.
We do need a nationwide awakening before the "thought police" get complete control and our downfall is past saving.
