Happy Birthday Hood. It’s always interesting to me that people think because you vote to lower taxes, you are automatically a good steward. Going all the way to Washington DC on the taxpayers dime is such an accomplishment. Kudos. It’s also quite interesting that the employees are held to a strict per dime that doesn’t even cover meals while ALL commissioners eat high on the hog. Them $40 breakfasts and $50 dinners on the taxpayers dime isn’t being a good steward. It’s giving “do as I say, not as I do”. It’s amazing what a public information request reveals.

I’m looking for unbiased information about our government and community matters. This sounds like a political rally cry. Please consider joining the journalism movement to stop being partisan and continuing the civil divide. This is why newspapers and corporate media is drying up. We the people are in a crisis of confidence in our representatives and government services that help the people without millions or billions of dollars. Every since Nutrien crossed the street and found more ore, the continuation of the destruction of aurora continues. Only building with ay taxes going to it is the school, post office, and liqour store. The town isn't good enough for a bank, grocery store, drs office, and now any school, but there's a person in that liqour store everyday selling shot bottles of liqour to the community. The county wants aurora to be gone and if I was a resident of that town I'd be heartbroken. No taxes are going towards helping them. Its a travesty.

Commented On Some Refreshing Change at School Board Meetings
Well, it was at least refreshing to see that Steve Rader corrected you on your statement that Daniel Hudson and myself was "trying to steal Steve Rader's fire" on suggesting we hire a local attorney. It was indeed Daniel Hudson who brought it before the board after he and I discussed this multiple times. Secondly, your comment that "I stated I would never vote for anyone other than Tharrington and Smith to represent the school board" is grossly incorrect. I stated I would not vote to remove them from retainer but voted to search for a local attorney to use on a day to day basis. Thirdly, your comment that CPS Principal was incorrect on stating that Snowden parents and students are completely happy at CPS, an "A" rated school, shows you haven't been at the school. I've visited the school at least 10 times since August and see how much these students are benefitting. Maybe try visiting the school yourself. Your readers deserve better or better yet watch the video themselves.

It was reported that many of the families with students in Snowden are looking forward to the new arrangements after the closure. I’m sure it is not ideal for them but they seem positive about it.

My understanding is
Brooke McGowen won the popular vote by 4 votes. Because the rules use a weighted vote- the # of qualified delegates at each district is included. I think Beaufort County has 40 qualified to come to the convention. Only 13 of us were there voting but once we had a majority voting for Brooke McGowen instead of Jason Simons, she got 40 “weighted votes” She lost by 805 votes. Some counties have hundreds of qualified delegates. Sooo… we as a smaller county could increase our voting power if we could enlarge the # of eligible delegates. |

Thank you for your article of June 17. It was amazing. So many points that I and those of us who have taken a great interest in, you have summed up in this piece. You are so correct that Snowden is a big part of this entire picture currently, but the bigger picture is as Snowden goes, so goes the County of Beaufort. It is not about consolidating everything and pulling it all closer to Washington. That should not be their growth plan. Tt is more about the County Leaders having the foresight to push economic development and growth to all parts of its territory. "Share the wealth and the wealth will be shared with you guys." It is a sad day when a small town feels the need to cross County borders for a vast number of resources; thereby, increasing the economy in its neighboring county, Pamlico, who opened its arms to Aurora/Richland Township residents. I'm no Nostradamus but I predicted the downfall of Aurora in 1974.I told people that they was no way you could mine at the depth they were doing and not disturb the aquifer. As I studied more I said that there was a possibility of polluting the waterways. Slowly over the years my predictions came to life.with Pollutants come the the chance of cancer and that has happened also.

CV, I'm a person with a lot of questions.
I believe I recall reading a piece from Fritz (after his resignation) that he supported Sadler and was speaking in his defense. Someone said that they were sure Fritz would vote to replace his seat with Sadler. These things just dont add up. I suspect that there is a cabal of cabals in these parts. LOL Friends will protect friends even when they recognize that their friend is involved in shady things. This leads to our shadow govt. But, go ahead, please tell me more. Inquiring minds want to know. |

CV, I see a pattern, but I'm not sure if th root of abuse is comin from th Sadler Cabal, Kidwell Cabal, Washington Dept head's Cabal, or the Dem Party w its useful idiots. It could b a "union of cabals." When a Dept head says "It means whatever we say it means," u know we hav a citizen abuse problem. When a Council membr says, "if u dont lik th way we do things, hire a lawyer," then u know we hav a citizen abuse problem. When police go & break down an old woman's door on th pretense of doing a welfare check, when all the while all they wanted to do was arrest her for a false "citizen generated" charge (not police generated) where the police lie & deceive th Fire Depts Rescue Squad to go along, then u know that there is a chronic citizen abuse problem locally. On top of all that, we think of th Fire&Rescue as

John Valley: Good points, I guess only time will tell on DC's future.
On a little personal note, Dean Cain was my least favorite Superman and his acting skills went so far downhill to the point where he was "CANCELLED" and no-one would or will hire him for any roles, maybe he should have stayed out of politics as all actors should. He said that he left acting to focus on family, but I don't by it! The truth was that he was 99.98% "CANCELLED" because of his political views and statements. Also, Christopher Reeve will always be the best Superman and one last cool fact, Reeve's son makes a guest appearance in the new film, and that is at least one good thing about the new film I suppose. |

Dean Cain doesn't know what he's talking about! I did some quick research to find out that Superman 2025 is already a box office hit. The budget for that film was $350 million and it's already hit $415.1 million worldwide and climbing. So, it did not loss any money at all and everything earned from now on is straight profit!
How to Train your Dragon is doing a lot better with a smaller budget of $150 million and currently at a box office of $592.6 million worldwide which is some damn good profit right there! |
