This is nothing more than a smear campaign by a front group for the meat industry, which has long tried to make PETA and other animal protection groups look bad in an attempt to distract from the real issues. Unlike the industries this group represents--which kill animals painfully, so they can make money by selling their flesh--PETA is a shelter of last resort for animals who need euthanasia to end their suffering (many of whom have been rejected by other facilities because euthanizing them would make their “numbers” look bad). This includes dogs who are aggressive and unadoptable because they have been kept chained their entire lives; feral cats dying of contagious diseases; animals who are wracked with cancer; elderly animals who have no quality of life and whose desperate guardians brought them to PETA because they can’t afford to pay a vet to euthanize them; and the list goes on. Euthanasia is a kindness for animals who are suffering beyond hope and have nowhere else to turn. PETA refers healthy, adoptable animals to local shelters and has also found excellent, lifelong homes for many animals themselves. Please watch this short video to see some of the animals PETA has helped in its community: www.youtube.com.

Enjoyed this post. One of my dear friends, Mike Callahan of High Point, was also a photographer during his tour. A few years ago, someone (I can't remember who) put together a photo exhibit of Vietnam photos from Mike and several others, and it was awesome! God bless all of you guys, and thank you for your service.

Very well done, Stan. These heroes were our fathers, uncles and grandfathers. Those who survived this and all the other battles to preserve freedom came home to resume lives in our communities and, for my generation, were our teachers and role models. I have learned so much from the members of the Greatest Generation. Unfortunately, we are losing them at a rapid rate…and we will not see their equal when they pass. God bless them all, and God bless America!

I first met Diane through my husband, Stan. They became quick friends through their mutual involvement with, and enthusiasm towards all things government. Lucky for me, Diane was a multi-faceted person that I could relate to on other topics.

She was very kind towards me and I appreciated her humble character. I was fascinated by her many intellectual achievements and will forever feel of her passing from this earth at such a young age as surreal. I am heartbroken for her family and am truly saddened that cancer has taken another fine person way too soon.

Diane Rufino was truly one of God's good children, and is now resting in divine peace.

This blend of her beautiful voice with Yo-Yo Ma and his cello along with some other unique instruments that build toward the end is captivating! My new favorite. Hey that's a song too.

I'm wondering some more. I wonder why the Washington Walkers (Carolyn and Randy) were working so hard in Republican Primaries outside of their own school district.

Wondering. Has the most recent "Victory Committee" ever reported to the Beaufort County Republican Party Executive Committee?

The only person in the upcoming commission election with a real record on the subject of taxing is Deatherage. Others are just talk, and as we've seen time after time, talk is cheap.
