Now I know why we gel despite some political differences, Stan! We have both had hard work and diversity in our life and experiences.
I just hope people who read our banter realize we are, at the core, most respectful of our beliefs and outlooks. We are big enough to "agree to disagree" . . . now if you can control the put downs of the "Liberals" you will discover that life is not made solely of Conservatives of your ilk.

Or the Deatherage version of serving for 18 years, with many of whom understood so little, while personally knowing well two fields, or three of endeavor, and then learning a fourth that will tie the other 3 together rather nicely prayer.

Now let's take this a step further, and this is a train of thought that even Liberals would benefit from on the road to wisdom - even a liberal form of wisdom. My thoughts on obtaining wisdom: Know well what you know; but know better what you don't know, and have the wisdom to know the difference. That's it.

You do realize that it was Democrats in charge when they initiated the Jet Port, and they were in power when it failed, right?
Same with the Randy Parton Theater. You be progressive for the both of us. Free markets do not work that way.

You do understand that you can't actually be a Conservative when you attack them.
But that is what Liberals do, right? Remember when Amateur Obama was announcing that Bowe Bergdahl was a patriot, when he was a known deserter? Kind of the same thing here. Is there is any wonder that Liberals will never understand what it means to be a principled Conservative, and why some real Conservatives, like myself, laugh at Liberals. You guys are truly hilarious, and that's simply fine. I need something to laugh at.

You might be wise, Stan, to get several more cups of coffee so you make better sense to me, at least.
I believe we need to CONSERVE the progressive nature of NC that I saw come into place after graduating Southeastern Seminary in 1970. When I left, it appeared to me that Raleigh would never be more than a Capital cow-town . . . then the Research Triangle Park was conceived / jetport at Kinston / East Carolina Medical School and hospital. This part of NC took off with PROGRESSIVE thinking and planning. I came back to Rocky Mount in 1986 to watch it deteriorate into a center of drugs and crime because every large industry was leaving by the month. There are no more executive salaries in Rocky Mount because we have lost it to other places. That is REGRESSION in my view. If you can find a way to quit defending "Conservatives" as the latest and bestest, then you might see the plight of the current Legislature which the article cites.

You're still doing it. You're condemning real Conservatives and still talking incessantly about 'hate'. Gene, no real Conservative will read your many words. and say, "You know, Gene is really just one of us now, but you know, I really do wish he would lose that whole 'hate' thing." It ain't going to happen that some wand is waived, and then you become a Conservative. And a word of advice, Conservatives don't talk about 'hate' all that much. The word has been mindlessly, and thoroughly trashed by Liberals, not unlike other words and phrases: racist, gay, progressive, diversity, empowerment, neanderthal, mean-spirited, social justice, 1%, Koch Brothers, stakeholders, Rush Limbaugh, Faux News, etc. ... until I add more. When the most eloquent Liberals speak, Conservatives just hear fine words explaining nothing. It's in the words, it's in their deeds. It is easily determined who is who, yet it signifies nothing substantive. Thanks again Gene for the new Liberal buzz words and phrases.

Guess what, since I'm sharper in the morning, I just now came up with another Liberal buzz word - Stakeholders. I'll give you an assist on that one.

I totally agree --- we have lost the edge of being Progressive to a more than Regressive bunch in Raleigh.
Now they are sold out to the Koch Brothers and we are on the cusp of fracking filthy oil and endangering the aquifers / considering oil drilling in the Graveyard of the Atlantic and beside the pristine Gulf Stream. Their lust for money over securing our citizens is become so obvious that even a Lobbyist like our Governor can't do enough PR to cover the Regression . . .
