Wow! What the superintendent did and the school board attorney seems to have failed to do just does not pass the smell test. There may have been some school board members also acting inappropriately.

The welfare costs for illegal aliens are enormous in all western countries. Illegal aliens should NOT be allowed to freeload off of taxpayers. European countries are being financially strangled with the burden of welfare costs for illegal aliens. In Germany, for example 63% of all welfare expenditures are to illegal alien "asylum seekers" and the amoung paid in those welfare checks is more than paid to German citizen senior citizens in their pensions. That is just appalling.

Yes Bubba,
As you correctly wrote: "Too many of our school board members seem to be little more than rubber stamps / puppets for our very liberal superintendent Cheeseman. That is pathetic."

This puppet/rubber stamp scenario exist for the City of Washington as well. Our entire City Council & the bureaucrats that work for them are mere mindless puppets doing the bidding of the City Manager.

When Hood wrote: "Sometimes, with zoning, there comes corruption, favoritism and huge expensive bureaucracies to administer the favoritism and corruption." I thought he must be talking about the City of Washington. No, they wont see the error of their ways because they are too ignorant & lazy to understand their own responsibilities to the public. I'll bet you not one of them have read the zoning rules posted on their own City website.

Vote wisely.

Didn't Carolyn Walker and Daniel Hudson both give Cheeseman the votes he needed to close the school in Aurora? Seems like that bought a promotion for one’s daughter and a better report card for the other’s. Cronyism, nepotism, corruption much? Maybe the coincidental timing just make the optics look bad. It really does stink to high heaven…better watch your step and lift your trouser legs if you walk near the BCS bunch.

It is hard to imagine that the Raleigh-based out of town school board attorney or the local superintendent were not aware that elections were partisan. Were they playing stall ball here to try to gain control of this seat? This is an 8 to 1 Republican board. Isn't having a school board attorney who is chairman of the Durham County DEMOCRATIC Party a conflict of interest? Wouldn't that be a likely motive for him failing to act on this matter for years?

This near-fiasco reeks of political hanky-panky.

I find it hard to believe that the members of the School Board didn’t realize filling the District Six seat was a partisan issue. The School Board elections have been partisan races for the past two election cycles and all current members have had to run in a partisan election to win their current seat. An outdated policy, whether they read it or not, would not have been a reasonable excuse to anyone with common sense to not understand how the process worked. This is especially true considering some of the board serve on the county Republican Executive Committee or attend the meetings.

What is more concerning is the lack of ethics or outright corruption. The example mentioned at the end of the article seems to be a violation of the NC Open Meetings Law (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143-318.11) which covers what can and can’t be discussed in closed sessions by the board. Furthermore, cronyism and nepotism are forms of corruption. North Carolina has regulations and policies in place to prevent abuses associated with nepotism and cronyism which are designed to ensure fairness and prevent abuses of public trust. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any higher-level oversight of what is transpiring in Beaufort County. The only recourse left to the people is to vote out the guilty parties in the next election.

If a group of military officers plotted to seizer Presidential power the way these Democrat hack judges do, they would be arrested for treason. The same thing should happen to these despicable Obama and Biden judges. Lock them up.

On this board situations like this seem to arise quite often for a variety of reasons. This instance seems to be a combination of
1. An out-of-date board policy which is a reflection on the Board and the Board Attorney.
2. Incompetent or scheming school staff leadership (not sure which)
3. Conniving Republican School Board members.
This is a recipe for one disaster after another. Stay tuned. More to come I suspect.

It is way past time to start ousting some of these stinking Democrat federal judges. Throw the bums OUT! We can start with Congress declaring all the Biden autopen judicial appointments VOID. Obama and Biden judges are a threat to democracy.

Senator Thune must work immediately to get Alina Habba appointed ... if she still wants the job.

The patriotic core of this Republic must elect a super majority of real Republicans to the Legislative Branch to begin the impeachment of rouge Democratic Socialist and Non Patriot judges appointed by all corrupt presidents, like Hussein Obama and the Idiot Biden.

Game....set....match!

Following this most recent professional wrestling event, the public trust in any of these a**hats should be abysmal. This is some rinky dink Mickey Mouse crap here, folks. You can't make it up!

I bet Cheeseman's hindparts tightened up when heard three words: 1. Rader 2. School 3. Board

Maybe Rader will help bring more charter schools into the county and stimulate involvement with surrounding counties to make this a "win win" for everybody?

Congratulations to Steve Rader for your partisan election to the BCS, and congratulations to the Beaufort County Schools, especially if they learn to listen to Steve on important issues that need fixing; those arising from bad policy, an example of which is the issue that they were unaware that they effectively were a partisan board, and ... Another issue that needs a complete overhaul; the occasion of acquiring or using property, one orders a TITLE SEARCH!

The superintendent and his handpicked out of town leftwing school board attorney, who is chairman of the Durham County Democrat Party, seems to have left this policy totally out of date where it left a Republican seat potentially vulnerable. Both of them have some responsibility for this situation. Someone needs to be held accountable. Whether this was intentional or just incompetence, someone needs to pay the price.

The superintendent also seems to have sat on the resignation letter for an inordinate amount of time. Why did he do that?

I appreciate the work of the Beaufort County GOP leadership, particularly Chairwoman Garris, in staying on top of this matter so that it could be handled properly. I am also grateful for the support I received from all wings of the BCGOP executive committee within the district in giving me a unanimous vote for this position.

In reviewing the Beaufort County Schools policies on Board operation, I found that they had never been updated to reflect that the races are partisan. I have drafted and submitted proposed amendments to make the needed revisions for consideration by the school board so that this process can run more smoothly next time around.

I did not realize that this level of subterfuge existed in doing what needed to be done - the rightful selection of a school board member. It was an absolute oddity that we (I was a voting member) had to meet on a Sunday afternoon, being told "time was running out."

Additionally, what I find odd from Commissioner Richardson's report here is this: If the BCS administration was too afraid to pass on a letter of resignation without the the vacationing Superintendent's consent: Why did they not just call him for that consent?

Furthermore, that these bureaucrats, not on vacation, did not act as is the dictates of the NC general statutes, call the Superintendent to acquire the affirmation to act is troubling, which suggests a staggering level of incapability.

Is it any wonder that this same bureaucracy did not order a very necessary title search on a specific property before beginning a $52,000,000.00 construction project on said property?

What's with it with some of these Republican School Board members wanting to meddle in other districts than their own. Why didn't Carlton or the Superintendent turn the letter over to the Beaufort County Republican Party Executive Committee to start with?

Incredibly, I am still amazed at how the Center-Left /Left Coalition (Gang of Four) can stick together on every vote, most votes of which are idiotic in nature, and the Beaufort County GOP does nothing to rein in their bad pampered actors; their RINOs within their failed Big Tent philosophy, declaring that even Leftist "Republicans" are worth saving and supporting.

Stan, tell us about it. Targeting shouldnt be kept quiet. Many of us have probably experienced some of the same things.
I have heard that the School system took a contract away. I think you said that NOW sometimes gets hacked. That's a crime, you should always report those things. Inquiring minds want to know. I feel starved for information about things that go on locally here in the shadows. Actually I feel starved for local news, in general. WITN reports more national news than local news... except for the weather. They talk about NC weather 3 times in a 30 min. show.

Washingtonian, in case you did not know, I am already a target, and have been for decades. At some point, one gets far smarter or truly pissed, and I am currently both.

I have nothing further to lose; and all I have to do is yank on certain threads; know what is real to tell the real truth, and let the chips fall where they may.

We are finally at a point, where: smart people, honest people, and patriotic people finally know they need and deserve honest government before it is too late.

Woe be it to corrupt politicians in Beaufort County, and every where else they can be found.
