One has to look at waste or incompetence or unnecessary spending elsewhere in our school system. Without that, the money would have been there for Snowden. One example I heard at a public hearing was the half million dollar blunder by the school central office on the 4 acres of land they did not own on their consolidated mega-school that they had to make up. Another is that they are providing school lunches during the summer to students free WHEN THE SCHOOLS ARE NOT HOLDING CLASSES. This charity or giveaway program should not be paid for by our taxpayers. They fund waste and incompetence like this but say they cannot fund Snowden? Hogwash!

Thank-you for these good words, my dearest friend, Diane Rufino.

May your good spirit watch over us all; the Good People of the Republic you did so dearly love.

Well, this is a signal in the right direction for the justices.
Commented: Friday, July 4th, 2025 @ 9:35 am By: Stan Deatherage
It is high time that all of the justices smarten up, and that includes a few of the so-called "conservative justices."

These are uncertain times in our Republic, as so many of public are totally ignorant of what constitutes truth, or inspired consistently by evil. Either way, we, who now real truth, must stand fixed and solid.

Now that Tillis isn't running for re-election he doesn't have to pretend to be a republican or conservative, his true colors come out, full blown democrat which we knew all along.

Asylum has always been a racket all over the western world. Many of these illegal aliens who claim to be afraid of their home countries, go there on vacation, spending the welfare money they get from western countries. False asylum claims are a criminal enterprise. These despicable jackass judges are a disgrace.

Lindsay Graham was one of the original Senate "gang" supporting amnesty for illegal aliens. With Trump in power, he is smart enough to know that is going nowhere and keeps quiet on it, but he is fundamentally bad on the immigration issue and needs to go. Bauer would make a great replacement.

This law will also help reduce housing costs for American citizens. As usual, the lefties run to the radical judges to try to screw things up.

Typical Tillis - trying to protect the giveaway welfare programs while screwing the taxpayers. That is one of the big reasons that so many of us are happy that Tillis will be GONE.

Presidents Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln simply ignored pushy federal judges who tried to abuse power. Maybe Trump should do that, too, and cite them as precedents. Lincoln even once issued an order for the arrest of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, although the Chief Justice backed down on what Lincoln thought he was about to do, and Lincoln recalled the order. That is how you deal with the tyranny of the judiciary. Unelected, unaccountable political appointees like federal judges should not have the power they try to assert over the elected branches of government. Tha tis highly undemocratic.

Van Zant: Your analogy supports the better fact that school board members should run county wide.

The Marist poll is notorious for tilting to the left, so this result in their poll is particularly encouraging.

I wonder if Mr. Shreve would have taken the same stance if it had been Bath Elementary in the crosshairs.

The public education system here in Beaufort County has great potential, and then I am reminded, first hand, just how messed up it is, as I watch, know intimately, how greatly their leadership diligently strives to grasp ahold of that single shiny thread from that dark, distant gordian knot, where a masked mediocrity might be attained, and closely held; until even that common place venture of something slightly better than nothing ... Just slips away.

Maybe we need a criminal law against judges abusing their power. Strip them of their judgeship and their pension and send them to prison where they deserve to be for trampling on our democracy.

There is no management of anything in our public school system. Having a Phd or a Masters degree does not mean one has management ability. It means you are well trained in socialism and indoctrination, not management. We need more business people at all levels of government, then we swill see a change.

I remember Bill Moyers well. He was an outstanding Democratic journalist.

Did these partisan Democratic Socialist judges not learn anything from the latest Supreme Court ruling nullifying their nationwide injunctions? This is overtly embarrassing for these Leftist fools in black robes.

Our federal courts these days seem to be little more than ANTIFA in black robes. Something needs to be done about that.

What swampy Republican senators did or allowed to happen to the Big Beautiful Bill in the Senate is disgusting, and we need to replace all of them we can in the primaries, because we also need to replace the new McConnell, John Thune. It was the swampy Republicans themselves who were responsible for some ot the watered down items like cutting only half of Biden's spendthrift Green New Deal instead of all of it, like the House did. On other things like letting illegal aliens still get Medicaid, it was a matter of Thune refusing to overrule the Democrat Senate Parliamentarian who had been hired by Harry Reid. Why in the heck did we even have a Harry Reid holdover sitting in that position to screw with this bill? Too many "Republican" senators are really Democrats in Drag. Getting rid of that sellout Tillis is a good start, and so will be taking down Cornyn, Cassidy, and Graham, but there are more that need their walking papers. That idiot James Lankford who tried to do Biden's bidding on open borders comes up agains in 2028. He badly needs to go. All of these sellouts helped Obama and Biden get some of their key legislation through.

Compare the SAT scores from public schools and private schools / charter schools. I had a grandson start in Beaufort County Schools and was not getting what he needed, then went to Terra Ceia Christian School and they were much much better. He got what he needed there. We also have friends with kids at Bear Grass, and they are very happy with the education their kids are getting there.

Years ago, someone I worked with had two sons at the old private school that used to be in Washington Park. When it closed, they went to Beaufort County Schools and were bored to tears because they were being taught in BC schools what they had been taught in private school two grades earlier.

When I was in school, all the kids paid for their lunches or brought them from home. I think most families can still afford that.
